Allright,so here's the deal. I've been trying to do a decent 540 for some time now,but I keep getting hard landings and I don't have enough time to throw out a kick. Personally I think it's a jumping height issue, but I need tips about how I can clean it up and make it work for real! I'm going to be away in England untill the 14th of april,so please help me by giving tips etc. untill i'm back!
Any help at all is super appreciated. :punched:

I already know tornado kick so well that I could do it in a trash can,it's been rehearsed to death. That's why i'm moving on with the 540 anyway...

Usually I'd reply to this with a big-ass post, but since Emig did a pretty nice tutorial on it during CLN this year...I'll just refer you to it instead.

Uh yeah, put more emphasis on the kick itself, not trying to land it. Bring it up and down, don't think across so much. Umm, also chamber that kick. You're bringing it up straight legged! That only makes it look ugly but it's a lot harder to land that way, haha.
Bend the kicking leg as it's coming up, then extend it out all the way as you kick your imaginary target (yes you should pretend to have one if you're not doing that).
There's more I could get into but it's nothing most other people haven't mentioned, and of course plenty of tutorials out there. It's mostly a lot of drilling though to strengthen your legs and get the power/speed necessary to do it well. But yeah fix those technical things I mentioned.

Thanks for the link Sesshou!.. Haven't I seen you in some vid somewhere? Your nick sounds very familiar...
Shadow:Don't blame my jeans, they fit perfectly and allow me to even split if needed! So they're good enough. :P
White:Yeah... I sorta have to agree but I can't just drill if i'm doing it wrong. >_>
Swartz:Thanks alot for taking your time to give me tips! =D I go on Tae Kwon Do and my legs are strong,so I just need to use more power in the kick then...
Thanks to all of you! I'll go try as soon as I can... I just came home from my trip,so i'm abit sleepy/tired.

dude you are not kicking! just kick as hard as you can. you will land on the kicking leg if your kick is powerful enough.
once u get the 540 it will be sweet, u can combo loads of stuff with it.

again i say stop trying to land on the kicking leg.....
""First, if you are trying to simply land on the kicking leg, you were never trying the move correctly to begin with."-juji
does that make sense?
and even after uve rehearsed it that much it probably isn't enuf

jeez looks like youre dragging your feet along the ground.
i suggest lifting up your arms and legs more on...pretty much everything

Hmm... I have tried kicking full force, but then because of the lack of air it turns into a tornado instead.
Oh,and the lifting up is actually something i've considered trying... Who knows,it might work >_<
Lol,now I remember who Sesshoumaru was,I feel like a retard now.
Though... That vid with Matt Emig is kinda weird,it has a completely different start-up than what i'm used to,where do you gain height in that? Of course, uber pros like them... They wouldn't even need a damn start-up to do anything because they own the trick. Aarrhghh,I can't wait to get out again soon... Since the only time I can practice tricking is on weekends and holidays.
Does anyone know where I can buy a swedish adult in my area?
hahaha i like you, friends? :)

I disagree. The jeans I won are compfy, loose and light. I can pull off any of my tricks in them... but i'm still not stupid enough to go around doing that too much.
Uh yeah, put more emphasis on the kick itself, not trying to land it.
Yes, agreed.
It looks like you didn't JUMP at all. JUMP THE FUCK UP INTO THE AIR. That'll give you height to (drumroll).............. do a full good looking kick and land it too.
You were just swing your arms around and all your momentum went sideways and none went up.
I don't care how fast people can do low 540's, they look shit compared to one with air time.

yeah dude, you definately need to jump. just like swartz said, put an emphasis on kicking vertically instead of focusing on kicking across. imagine making an upside down "V" shape with your leg. when the kicking leg goes up, chamber it, and snap it out when you find your target and as your hips are turning over. when your hips turn over, bring the kick down, not across. it helped me to think of it like this. also, imagining a target is important. i actually learned the 540 with my friend holding a kicking paddle as a target for me. having a target is great for visualisation.
