Ok here's the problem, I've been tricking for about 2 years now, and in that time I've learned in no particular order

Front-hand-spring
Back-hand-spring
Backflip
Flashkick - sort of
360 crescent
Roundoff
Cartwheels etc
Au batido
Handstand
X-out
Gainer - again sort of.

Now the problem is I'm trying to do an Aerial but I just can't get it, I've tried 2 different techniques and it still hasn't helped much. So first any suggestions of alternative techniques/ pointers - I'll try and post a vid at some point of me doing one.

Second is there any other tricks people can suggest? I mostly trick on my front garden, I used to go to a gym but i had to stop because of transport issues, so I've had to do all my current stuff on grass. So any other suggestions trick wise?

Thanks

A little off topic, but when did you learn your first move?

When i was about 15/16 and it was a Front-hand-spring, took me and hour to learn. No worries :-)

I can do a front handspring, but I don't really class that as tricking.

How long into the start did you learn anything else?

Yeah I don't either really I just put it there for a rough idea, erm....i think it was about a month but I can't remember what trick it was, I just remember the Backflip took me some time, just to get over the fear etc.

maybe you need more air. ton's of vids/tutorials i've watched over the course of 2 days show the guys upper *lower when midair* very high off the ground, they get a good kickoff. Plus their cartwheels are extremely fast meaning their lifting leg is lifting very hard. i don't know how that fat taegoshi does his standing so well though, center of gravity/intertia i guess. *shrug*

btw i can't do aerial that well either, i started monday XD

its just annoying, because I've wanted to do an Aerial for ages and i seem to be no further than were I was when I first started, and I've done loads to try and nail one, but I just can't do one, my hand always comes down last minuet or I don't get the height or whatever.

Yeah it is baffling but hey, just gotta keep trying I guess, its just annoying how they make it look so easy..

I spent two years on the aerial (couldn't do a cartwheel when I started), and the first stage is to ATTEMPT one without the hands touching the ground.

I fell, and fell many times, but I now had something to work on.

Breakdown:

BEND THE TAKEOFF LEG, REALLY BEND! Then straighten it hard as you jump off of it.

Moving on to the other leg, the first leg that goes up into the air should go straight up fast, and then, when your torso is in mid-air, and you're inverted, your hips should turn to face the spot where you're going to land. The first leg should then come straight down underneath you.

STRAIGHT UP FAST! STRAIGHT DOWN UNDERNEATH YOU FAST!

Obviously use your arms to assist your rotation.

The tip that helped me land it eventually was to LOOK at where you want to land. Look at where you have to plant your foot to land, and PLANT THAT DAMN FOOT! At least that way your foot will hit that spot - you might not be able to stand up, but you will have completed almost fully the motion of an aerial.

Never throw yourself to the ground: think about your chest when you are just about to take off. Think about lifting it, and making it the lightest part on your body. Combined with a good jump, that will help you get the height to rotate your legs over to land.

Good luck! And congratulations on your foundation in tricks already.
