View Full Version : Trickers back pain.
I notice alot of people within out community complaining about back pain.
I'm one of these people of recent.
I have a few questions.
How many trickers out there get this gay disease.
Also, apart from the obvoius "go see a physio" for us cheap-arse's, is there anything we can do to minimise good ol' back pain.
Mine has arised ever since I started learning scoot corks.
manly lower back, my abs/lowerback/overall core strength is at a decent level. My leg flexability isn't very great though.

Which part of back? I always had lower back problems when I did too much backflips. Some said that this is becouse of tight hip flexors. Any suggestions?
My friend has it pretty bad.. REST, do some easy exercises and so on.
Hip flexers, hmm that makes alot of sence..
At my gym, we have this machine you basically add weight, hold to straps over your shoulders, and crunch forward. sure fast way to abs of steel..
Ussualy when I start putting on the weight after I warmed up, my hips lock up and cramp..then resulting in back pain afterwards..

When i use to get lower back pain it went away when i started this exercise. It's pretty simple, like reverse sit ups. You lie on your stomach and (optional) have your feet or toes under something like a lounge for leverage and you just lift up from your shoulders. It does your erectors which are the lower backs muscles next to the spine. Do between 30-60 at first.
I'm not saying it works but it definately helped me rape the pain away.

You could try flexing and stretching your hip, and back. Its good for preventing backaches. Ive been practicing martial arts and tricking for quiet a while now with flexing my back and hip. Hadn't had any back problems since then. Funny enough, when i didnt stretch/flex my hip and back, it use to hurt like hell.
So, what i do is mainly standing straight and twisting my hip around with a straight back. Do this until its warmed up. Then i ly on the floor and begin to pull my torso up with my legs staying on the floor as much as it can, with stretching my hip very much. It feels pretty damn bad for a few seconds (nothing incredible), but its enough to keep you from those nasty backaches  .

If it's just muscle pain rest and stretch.
If it's deeper than that haha your screwed go see a doctor.
i just recently hurt my lower back too. i assume its from kicking. a year ago, the same thing happened to me. i ignored it for a while, but it got to where i could barely do anything physical without pain. I remember trying to play basketball, then walking away from the game in pain. it eventually went away when i rested it. recently i got the same pain back. i think i just over worked it. it hurts when i try to torque my hips. an example would be kicking, riding horse stance punch, and anything you need to generate power for. this time i have decided to be smart and rest it. the pain was at its peak on tuesday, but its starting to feel alot better now. hopefully it will be good as new in a week. everyonce in a while i throw a roundhouse to see how it feels. if the pain ever comes back, i think i will see a doc.
I went and seeked advice from a personel trainer I know..
after a close inspection of how tense my lower abs were, my ability not to flex my accuall hip muscles very well, (see I thought because the rest of my leg is pretty flexabile my back would be fine)..
This is what she said..
before I do anything physical, aswell as everyday, I need to warm up my hips, loosin them up, you can't stretch them like you can stretch say, your calves. they take abit more work and looking after..
but the cause of my back pain was a result of hip flexers/muscles in that area pulling my lower abs tight, also, pull down my lower back, resulting in sore shoulder blades from the strain.
she ran me through some stretches, and in the middle of my church I was "testing" my new back, I CAN DO 540 AGAIN! hahaha woot.
Tuarag: Yeah I've been working on that particular workout for a while now, I think I'm starting to form a six pack on my accual back. I'm up to doing it with 25 kilo's for resistance, I don't feel it under my own weight untill about 300..
what was the stretch/workout? maybe it would be of some use to me.
kinda lunge forward with one leg so your pushing your hip out.
then with which ever leg you lunged out with. put that same arm up in the air move it around and stretch about, it should stretch your entire left han d sideo f your body, if you put your left foot, left arm up.

Damn this is what Ive got at the moment... So annoying! All Im doing now is staying away from any physical activity and praying that it'l just go away if I rest for long enough.
Am I ever :P
Slim-grim, you can do stuff..you have to slowly warm your back up though, stretch it out etc...downside, if you stack, your back at stage 1..
i know EXACTLY how you feel. i was starting to feel alot better until last night when i decided to do some 540's. the very last one was actually my best 540 yet, but thats the one that flared it back up. now im back at stage 1 like billy said. it really pisses me off.
I'm just trying to rest..
keep a nazi like eye on your posture(sp) make sure your shoulders are always back, not lunging forward etc...when you workout your abs (or any back strengthing moves in that case) if you get any pain.. I suggest stopping.
When stretching, if backpain kicks in, stop, find another way to do it.
Heat packs heat packs heat packs..
Light massages by loved ones? gay lovers maybe? none of this wannabe physio crap. If they hurt you, tell them to stop..etc...etc..
And, just bite the bullet and go see a doctor, im going tomorrow..

Yeah I'm considering going to a doctor now, because without tricking, taekwondo and athletics, my summer will seriously suck...
my shoulders and chest are aching too :agony: and both knees are bruised and the ankles are death...
god i'ma work it all off and stretch.
i put a heat pack on it over night and i feel loads better. it still hurts, but its a lot better. i would go to the doc, but i cant afford it

Yeah I feel for ya Mac, You know your Canadian tricker when you can go out and bust your ass and not worry about paying a doctor. This will sound hella wierd but get a body pillow and sleep on your sides with it between your legs it supports the spine and levels things out or sleep on your back it's better then on your stomach. It helps with Back Pain in general
really? thats awesome. i sleep with a body pillow every night, i just never put it between my legs.
btw, you canadians are lucky not having to pay for a doc.

We do but we don't, Canadians are Taxed out the Ass for things but it goes into the health Care system which is nice because Docs never have to do write offs and lose income.
But un needed health care you pay for like if you decided you wanted Butt Cheek inplants or something you would have to pay out the Yin Yang
Worst part about all this, I'm on school holidays..and with all the crap load of work ive had while I was at school I could only squeeze in 3 tricking sessions a week aswell as going to the gym. Now I'm on school holidays and I was looking forward to training every day :(

You guys are lucky to not have to pay for the doctor. I'd go whenever i had a small injury(ive only been to the doctor for tricking once... and thats because i thought i like broke my chest lol. The money made me go a week later though haha. I think my insurance covered it, but i was too dumb to think about that earlier.). How about sports doctors?

Gah having to pay for doctors must suck, I was in America a few years ago and someone I was with got an ear infection and they charged him like 200 dollars or something to tell him that he had the infection which he knew he had and to write him a prescription

Physio is paid for if your under 18 and older then senior age, Thats what pissis me off with free medical people go for shit they don't need to go for. SO were taxed even more. Alot of healthy benifits at work are covered we get a huge discount off the dentist as a hockey player I need that lol.
Medical is wierd here. In the states I know if I bust my ass tricking if I know I'll live through it in pain I'd wait til I a crossed the boarder and find the closest clinic in sarnia no joke
Here in australia we have a system called medicare, means most stuff is bulk billed. Major operations, unless covered by this medicare system, cost you an arm and a leg..to come under the medicare system..stuff like, disabilities/single parent/uni students (I think)..stuff like that..
basically everyone has a medicare card..infact, everyone does..
but For sport specialists, through medicare you can see one for a price, ALOT cheaper then normal..like 20 bucks or so? but your put on a waiting list and can sometimes take up to 2-3 months..I'd rather pay 80 bucks and get it done...
billy, i know what you mean. thats why i cant wait for this semester to be over so i can train tkd, tricking, and stretching all the time. i really want to make a big jump skillwise over the summer. i would probably get depressed if i was injured over the summer lol.
lol kinetic, broken chest?
