I say tutorial, it is more of a tip...
I have watched several tutorials where I feel like I have been told what to do rather than how to do it. From my experience in helping other people to land moves not only do you need to know what do but also how it feels to do it.
In the example of a gainer flash:
I could say to you "You need to kick your foot up to head height and keep your chest up. Don't arch back so early.", this may be valid advice however at the same time may not be helpful at all...
here is a much more valuable way of putting it: "You need to kick your foot up to head height; at first it feels like you are kicking a football, you should feel that your arms and foot are swinging in unison; as you feel your foot leave the floor you should also feel your arms and chest push into the sky. The Idea is that you keep pushing your chest into the sky until your foot has hit head level, then you should arch; this will give you optimal height and power."
Both quotes tell the trickster to do the same thing however the second is much easier to put into practice.
I am not aiming this at any tutorials or peoples advice in particular, this is my opinion on giving advice and it is open to debate. I also think I should put this into practice more often, I all too often get lazy and give people half arsed advice like in example 1 and it just isn't as helpful.
I would just like you guys and gals to consider what I have just said before making tutorials and giving advice. Hopefully everyone will benefit from a much better level of advice.
