Arashi swipe is the same as a scoot EXCEPT you scissor the legs- just like a scissor kick (one leg does a sidekick - the other a front/reverse round)
So...if you scoot on your left hand.... Throw the left leg out and to the left while throwing your right leg to the right. When you're about to land (on your left leg) the right right leg comes down like a roundhouse.

Scoot

The scoot, which is a movement found in throughout Capoeira [movements like the "chapéu de couro"], is a transitive skill.

From a kneeling position [left foot on ground, right knee on ground, right hand on ground], an arching shift is made. During this shift, the chest remains downward as the right foot reaches out to step out of the shift/scoot. Aside from supplying a small hop to fuel the shift, the left leg does nothing...if anything it'll lift up slightly. Since the scoot has no kick, it cannot be viewed as an offensive technique...so it's used as a transition to move from one trick to another.

Scoots can lead to other transitive skills such as: swingthrus, carrythrus, misslegs, slide-in's, roll-in's, etc.

Arashiswipe

At first glance, the Arashiswipe can appear very similar to the scoot. However there are a number of differences between the two. In correlation to the "Scoot Diagram" [above], the Arashiswipes' "Π" characteristic would have a value of 180°. This is the most obvious difference between the two...

In the Arashiswipe:

The legs scissor back and forth to deliver a low swiping kick [similar to a roundhouse] to the leg of a target [hence "Arashiswipe"].

The chest faces the direction of travel.

The trick starts out like a Flare [the right leg is swung behind and through the left...as the left lifts up], from there the left leg swings back and initiates the first scissor as the right foot reaches out to "check" the target.

The entire trick is done while remaining parallel to the ground, and below hip level [as to avoid contact from sweeps and mid-level kicks].

180° degree flatspin, resulting in you finishing in the same place.

Arashiswipes can also lead into a number of transitive skills; however, swingthrus cannot be done from them.
