I used to blend them up with milk, whey, and a banana. That was probably a stupid thing to do.

Semonlia? Semolina? Or salmonella?

I thought that salmonella only existed on the shell, and that there was something like a 1/30,000 chance of getting it....

Yeah, check this link out: http://www.healingdaily.com/detoxification-diet/raw-eggs.htm
according to that, if you do come across a salmonella-infected egg (every 42 years he says, or .003% are infected), only the young and elderly will be affected seriously, unless your immune system is jacked.

I dunno if its true or not, though (no one really does IMO, every 'scientific study' contradicts one another).

Salmonella sucks even if your immune system isn't "jacked".

The point is, drinking raw eggs can be potentially hazardous and it has no benefits over cooking or frying them.

I agree.

It's so convenient to just throw some raw eggs into a blended shake. You don't even taste them.

Dude it takes like thirty seconds to cook eggs, and you can still toss them in a blender. It cuts down on the nasty slime level.

It doesn't take 30 seconds to cook eggs, I put my glasstop stove on high on the biggest burner and it still takes like 3 minutes, haha.

If you use pasteurised egg whites then you can drink them, but there's no advantage over using a whey or egg white protein powder. Salmonella isn't really a big deal, especially if you're using eggs from healthy hens (free range, organic etc., instead of diseased caged/battery ones), but protein absorption is.

If you're just wanting raw yolks for mayonnaise or shakes or whatever then fair enough I guess.

salmonella is only on the shell of the egg (if at all)
just wash the egg shell. no risk

werd, protein absorption is impared when raw, but figures vary so I don't know to what extent. If you're in a real hurry then chug some raw. Some also believe there to be other benefits to raw yolks, people like Mercola.

2 eggs or 3? What the hell? 5 or 6 at least, leave 2-3 yolks in there.

if you're making an omlette, you'd need a big pan to use 5-6 eggs tbh. Or it would be very thick and take a while to cook. Scrambling owns, then add a lot of butter.
