Wikipedia didn't help meh :(

I've got shin splints, rested them away completely just to get them back after 3 TKD sessions. Now I have them again..

Causes? Someone said "front flips are for idiots who want shin splints" or something like that.. Why is this? My frontflips does land very stomped and crouched but landing doesn't hurt the least bit.. So I wonder, will any jump cause shin splints? Since tricking is all about jumping, how do you not get shin splints? :dead:

Prevention? Say I've rested them away.. How would I go about to prevent getting them again? See I want to be able to throw flips and kicks and all kinds of stuff.. Basically, I want to be able to trick!

Practicing with shin splints doesn't lower my ability, it just hurts like a bitch.. If I ignore the pain I do the little stuff I do, just as good as if I don't have them.. So can I just practice with shin splints or will there be repercussions of doing it?

Thanks in advance..

Condition your shins. An excellent way being through Dogens Titanium Ankles. Do this when they are healed up completely.

Concerning physical activity with shin splints: Rest for crying out loud!! Exercising with shin splints can be disasterous, you can develop stress fractures and that means the curtains are down for a long time.

Do not ignore the pain! Rest and recuperate, come back better than before.

One learns when one wants to learn my backflipping friend. I think most people can agree that I was just like every new member when I came on TT. I knew nothing, I reacted to goatse and I thought people were going to be all smiles and friends.

Haha, yeah TT has somewhat defiled my innocent mind as well .. xD

But what are shin splints really? Inflammated tissue around the tibia? How does stronger calves and shins prevent it? Why does this inflammation occur as a response to ..shock? stress?

So many questions.. Bleh.. x(

Tibialis/calf imbalance, stress fractures.

I've had this problem alot as well.

You have to work out your shins. The only way is by basically lifting your toes using only your ankle, trying to make your toes touch your knee (that sort of motion).

Dogen's Titanium Ankles vid is great, but I think it over complicates the shin thing. Just standing up, do an upward motion like I described. Of course, do this after rest and recovery.

Haha walk on your heels for 15 minutes, and hope you don't have stress fractures.

In a front flip you might land on your heels a lot if you don't rotate all the way, so maybe that's why someone might associate it with shin splits.
