As far as I have always known a 540 twist suggests a single non table topped cork not a cheat 720 twist.

That's hardly even accurate I'm afraid. Corkscrew is a 360 degree rotation, btwist from gainer takeoff, I don't care what anybody says. Flatspin doesn't mean crap. That's like calling a slant gainer a 180 twist.

A cheat 720 twist would be more accurate because if you take a 720 twist, and subtract the 180 cheated degrees, boom 540. Although, I say we just wipe the name 540 twist from existence because A: it's sorta like calling a sideswipe a 6654 twist and B: nobody's gonna wanna call a cheat 720 twist that since we can already call it cheat 720 twist.

Skilzat99X: Jon P is correct, table topped corks and non table topped corks are very different moves. A non table topped cork has to spin 540 degrees otherwise you would land back on your arse (hence why it is called a 540 twist), mathematically the rotation on table topped corks varies depending upon level of inversion.

Well yea of course it was called that. But the thing is that most corkscrew, especially the new and improved good better looking modern corkscrews don't have 540 degrees.
And the new and improved one's are the one's I'm more supportive of, seeings as they can be variated in terms of rounds hypers hooks and doubles quite well.

Now I'm not saying change the name, but I am saying that nowadays the term 540 twist just can't be that accurate to all corks. Sorta like 540 crescent, I mean where the heck did that name come from?
I just think it'd be cool if these terms just faded out of existence, my personal preference. Because heck, they're both dumb.

PS: Non-table top corks are basically Cheat 720 twists with the role of legs reversed ahaha. Interesting indeed, I just thought of it after visualizing them now.

In all honesty I sorta think of them (540twist and "modern" corkscrew)almost as two different moves, the setups and intents are so different. The cork is a btwist from gainer setup, and the 540 twist....isn't. It's more of a cheat 720 twist from gainer takeoff. lol oh well just names
