Do exactly what you do on the standing 540, with a setup.

jump off one leg not 2. x
How is the 540 from a back tuck set up your best one :agony:
Copy TKD Andy's set up in his second 540 in his 540 tutorial vid.
It is the most superior.

you are looking at the floor...don't do that, its a kick that is suposed to decapitate people...and you can't decapitate people if you are looking at the ground..

I'll tell you what you are doing, you are not creating enough 'troque' with your upper body. Your leg is travelling with your upper body, and the upperbody should move before it. If you watch the really good guys, you will see that they twist as much as they can before the leg is 'pulled' off the floor by the force generated by the upper body.
Test. Stand with your legs shoulder width apart, now hold your arms at shoulder level. Twist slowly to one side. Eventually you will feel you have reached a point where one leg must leave the ground and feels like it is being pulled along.
If you add some momentum you will find this makes your 540's really easy. Learn to pull teh kicking leg off the floor with the torque. Don't force it. If you look at your standing one, you actually do it much better.
Put power into the setup!

The first one was really good. When you get the kick and tuck the leg in, your body should come out of that ball and straighten out and have a spinning feeling right before you land.

No dipping  the best 540's are always chest up and open (ben brown)

I'll try those out when I recover from my conditioning.... lol that looking down thing sucks, its become a habit. I might try kicking something like a low leaf so I have a target...lol
