So I was sitting around, and it suddenly struck me: Would cold food be superior to warm food, in terms of losing weight. Since cold food is cold, it must contain less energy (it's cold!), compared to warm food. So if a person ate cold food, he would use more energy to keep himself warm, then if he was eating warm food.

Is this true, or just plain nonsense?

Taking the extreme of consuming water at 0 degrees C, say 1-litre.

Energy to heat it to 37 degrees:

(1ml by 1degree = 1 calorie..)
1000 x 37 = 37,000 calories = 37Kcal = fuck all.

You'd have to eat a rapeload of "cold" food. Don't dwell on this issue as a potential way to speed fat loss.

It is plain nonsense.

It's the sort of thing that D&D nerds would discuss as a desperate means to get chicks.

There's no workaround to eating heatlhy and exercising. People actualy do more sacrificies with diets and stuff than if they actualy exercised regulary. When you exercise, you feel great, your adrenaline start flowing and you feel very orgasmic! that's what people sitting down at the pizza place doesnt know!

For me it's rather the feeling after exercising that is "orgasmic". During the exercise I'm either in pain or just focusing on not passing out, depending on the exercise mind you.

Exactly...It's the pain and fighting that is orgasmic.

Altering food temperatures for weight loss is stupid, using calories for exercise so you'll adapt to use calories more efficiently (and increase muscle mass with resulting metabolic costs) always seemed better. Cold's still badass and can be done for willpower and recuperation, but that's more to the effect of cold showers or ice baths. Closing pores, increasing circulation... but do you really get all of those benefits from cold in the stomach? Cold water and some other stuff are refreshing and can be had for that, but most cold food is inferior to warm food.

I just happen to like cold water I guess, I tend to overdrink water as it is, apparently you can drink moe if it's warm so by drinking cold you stop from overhydrating.

It makes you wonder though, if with a lot of cold exposure you become a more natural shiverer.

maybe if your food were freezing cold it would taste like shit and you would eat less.

This may actually be a feezable ploy to sell to fat people to make millions of dollars

Trust me, frozen food tastes like shit. But if you're out in -40 trying to heat it up AND stay warm at the same time, you don't really care about warm food since you have to choose one of them.
