I recently got a new job (work boo!) at a gym (gyms yay!). If im working the early shift i start at 7 and end at half 2, getting half anhour off for lunch. Il usually train after i finish work so i need to have a good lunch.
Currently for breakfast (at about 6:20) i eat a bowl of oatmeal with some nuts and pumpkin seeds in it, an apple, a banana or orange, and a protein shake
For lunch (usually somewhere between 12 and 1) il have something like a pasta salad with tuna, 2 ham sandwiches, some nuts, an apple, and a banana
then just before i finish working il have a protein shake, then il train and go home and have another protein shake. Then about an hour later il have another meal etc
anyways, what would be some good food to eat for lunch before i train?

What facilities do you have at the gym?... Fridge? Microwave?
If you have these available (just a fridge is enough) then your lunch doesn't have to be any different to any other meal you might eat. I used to do this all the time when I was at the gym all day. Just make a little extra for dinner the night before, then pack it into some tupperware and you're set.
I would also make a huge bowl of tuna, beans, lentils, cous cous or rice, and pack it into containers for the rest of the week.
Tinned food is always easy, but you will get sick of it after a while. Sounds like you have it pretty much worked out anyway.

What compleks said. Also, an easy way to get some food when you can't is cut it up into small bite size pieces (chicken breast for example) put it in a small bag, and stick it in your pocket. Just reach into your pocket and grab a bite when you get the chance.

sounds like you eat enough, unless you're trying to bulk up heaps I don't see the need for any more food.

Get more protein from sources outside of shakes.

What exactly is your role at the gym? Gym staff can usually sneak off for a while without being noticed.

im a gym instructor, i sort out memberships, do inductions, training programs, and body composition tests. Its all pretty simple, i rarely have to actually do anything i tend to sit around and read magazines or watch television.

Eat whatever will fulfill your calorie needs to gain the muscle..
I eat subs at work, and drink tons of sweet tea. haha

And you ask TT about your own program? :wicked:
Cottage cheese/peanut butter/tuna sandwiches on whole grain wheat bread
i'm pretty sure a couple of those will have you feeling full and ready to go

Your main concern should be a midtime snack between breakfast and lunch. Just bring some shit, cold, from home, like...
Cook eggs and bring, delicious.
Tuna
Fruit
cuts of meat
a quick whey shake
Just sneak away for 2-3 min and gob it down. I used to do this when I worked in an electronics store, sneaked away, coworker of mine used to find me throwing down cooked eggs down my throat in the backroom office. haha, good times...

The guy is trying to put on muscle, why the fuck would anybody recommend fruits and vegetables and tuna?
He needs something dense with calories ESPECIALLY if it's a snack to get him through long lulls of not eating...
