There are no joys of being a loner trickster, especially when you suck.
... except maybe that no one has to put up with you. :eh:

I try to trick with my buds 1 time a week the rest is tricking alone. I do progress faster tricking alone but it's more fun to trick with others.

I keep a hand puppet on those lonely tricking evenings.

99 percent of the time I am tricking on my own because there are no trickers that are super close. But now I'm starting to hang out in Toronto and trick with some of the locals. They both have there pro's and cons

I'm pretty sure there are other tricksters in San Jose.
I tricked alone for the first year or so, until I met Nick.
John Fellas and my bro would "trick" with me once in awhile but they didn't really trick back then.

If you really like tricks you will practice no matter if you have people to do it with them!

True say man true say, most importantly just have fun with it man even if your killing it on your own just enjoy the sun, get a tan learns a new trick.

Actually... yeah, alone time is good for learning new stuff.
Then you can bust it out when you meet up with people and they're all like WTF!?
I like doing that.

Before I was tricking with Antoine because his house was like at 20 mins from mine, but now he's like at 8 hours in car... hahaha! Since I don't tricks anymore with him for almost 1 year and now, I don't have nobody to tricks with! I just don't care because I love to tricks and I will not stop no matter what! I will be back this summer to tricks with him and will probly do a Hype 3! hehehe :) It's still fun no matter if he is heavy like shit and cannot do a lots of stuffs to not hurt himself before his bodybuilding competition.

i often prefer tricking alone, i can work on what i want and theres no constraints. I dont like constraints.
I just like being out in a field in the sun with my camera, my headphones shoved in my ears and the music blasting, and just doing whatever the hell my body is capable of.

Agreed. I've tricked alone for 2 and a half years now, and knowing that no one is watching me is how I can set myself free, and not have to worry about constraints.
Well said, Andy.

thanks dan.
tricking with others isnt the be-all and end-all of tricking.
Unless im with my team mate jay, I never trick as hard or do half the stuff i do on my own when im with people. Doing stuff on your own allows you to develop your own style, your own approach to tricks, because i find, and im sure alot of other people do, that when you trick with other people you find yourself just doing the same moves as them, or you start talking about some trick then you get stuck on it etc, the creativity often goes out the window.
Tricking on my own also means i can just go for stuff and bail without people all going 'WOWWOWOZORZ JOO WERE SOO CLOSE DO IT 2000000 TIMES MORE', because that just doesnt help anyone!
meh. I guess its just personal preference at the end of the day. I certainly wouldnt have the same style to my tricks or do the moves/combos i do if i tricked with others all the time.

Well now that I actually have a lot of material I don't mind tricking alone. It pulls in chicks better. I have a nice group of trickers here though. I would never trick by myself before.

I feel all alone!!! I have no one to trick with!!!
Its depressing sometimes, being outside with no company and just bailing over and over again. At least with company you can laugh over a bail, but on your own, it just hurts.
Dragonic MiKe
May-07-07, 03:34 PM
I don't laugh when I bail but I laugh when I do something extremely gay.
Like b-kicking on my opposite side and just doing a gay little prance thing completely upright.
It is then that I think to myself, "What in the name of fuck am I doing out here in the cold?".

I was a "loner" the first 8 years of my tricking career...there are some benefits to tricking alone, and in the same capacity, there are some flaws.

my ideal setting is no one else within 50 feet of me, and just having a nice open space with my headphones.
my best progress is when i can really focus on what im doing without any distractions and really get into my zone.

Ya, but what about those moments when you land a trick you've been wanting for a while, and no one is around for you to share the incredible moment you have once you do land it.
I think, a week is about the longest its taken me to learn a trick (I've only been tricking for about a month now though) and that would be a kip-up. Oh, and today I landed front handspring on my fourth try.
I'm completely isolated, I don't think I will actually go to a gathering until after a year or so or if there is a BIG gathering in ATL this year. Depending on how far I am and if I still am tricking in a year, is whats going to determine if I even show my tricking to the community. On the plus side, I will have the sickest one year sampler of all time when I release it. I'm very good as is right now (my sig only represents tricks I've "mastered", I'm well into D class tricks)

Nah, I gradually worked my way up to everything...so by the time I wanted to try something new/harder; it was never too much of a stretch on what I had already had in my repitoire.
Due to great planning, patience, and prayer here and there...I've managed to never be injured [except for what happened in Nov. of 06'].

[except for what happened in Nov. of 06'].Mind sharing? And in response to the thread starter, I almost allways trick alone, I've never found it depressing in the least, but I guess I'm an all around loner so I'm used to being alone.

I acknowledge it, you are strong. It's because you know the same pain of loneliness that I do, and that pain makes people stronger. by breaking those bonds...I'LL OBTAIN EVEN GREATER STRENGTH

When your pokemon evolves, it's stats increas dramatically, unlike when it just levels up and some categories only increase by 1. Didn't you play the oldschool pokemon games for gameboy when you were a kid?

Nope, I'd tried playing it one time and then it reminded me of math so I stopped immidiately. Maybe I would have played it more having none I'd use it as a tricker....

I trick most of the time on my own..I have friends who trick..but they mostly trick on there own aswell..
I find it easier to focus on learning new moves..

I trick alone, I have done that since spring 2006, and Im satisfied with my progression. I agree with what Andy says. And one more thing, gatherings will be 100 times more exciting to join when u trick alone, so thats like christmas evening for a 5 year old kid!
