Hi guys, my names Ben, and I've recently been learning tricking manoeuvre's. I'm primarily a tracer (Parkour person) but I've been dabbling in tricking, and can front and sideflip on concrete confidently.

Recently though I've been feeling a pain in my leg muscle
This one in Particular: Tibialis Anterior
http://www.fun-and-fitness.com/mus-zone/images/legs1.gif

The pain began when i first learnt fronts on concrete and soon left after a while, but then has started again, primarily after one session into a sandpit where i did a lot of one footed front flips, taking off my right leg. And it hasn't gone, although I've continued to train both Parkour and Tricking. The pain is most prominent when i take off on a side flip and when i land my tricks.

What I'd like to know is, is this a common injury, something the muscles will adapt to, something i need to condition to overcome, or something more serious? Or do i just require rest?

Thanks Ben :D

If you do these kinds of activities almost everyday I say you need some rest. You also misspelled traceur (I do not associate myself with le parkour).

I had something a little bit like this. Can't say if it's exactly the same.

I went to a doctor and had it x-rayed and stuff and they said it was a possible stress fracture and to rest it for 6 weeks. So I did and the pain started right up again as soon as I started tricking.

I believe that the problem was actually muscular. So I probably should have been doing some type of strengthening exercises during my rest period. Silly doctors.

... I don't actually know where I'm going with this. >_>

You also misspelled traceur

Actually, originally David and his friends called themselves Tracer's without the "U", but as the years have progressed people have taken it upon themselves to correct the grammar in the word, when it was originally designed to sound "not-french".

I prefer to use the original terms, shows respect, like using the original Korean, Japanese, Chinese Terms etc. when learning a martial art.

Just a little bit of info there lol.

Back to the original thread:

Dragonic Mike, have you had any success in finding a conditioning exercise or any remedies for what you were suffering from?
