External obliques?
the finger-like muscles. at the side of your torso. they might be the serratus anterior but i cant remember.
anyway what's the best way to isolate them, preferably using weight.
also while you're at it, what's the best way to isolate the normal obliques, using weight too?

Bent press, saxon side bends.
I find that I develop my serratus best by doing swiss ball situps, but really focusing on flexing one side on each rep, coming up not sideways and not straight but kind of in between, flexing the serratus.
I've never tried a bent press though.
Mine just started popping out when I upped in the intensity of my workouts. I don't do any direct ab/oblique work at all. And besides, aren't these kinda attached to the ribcage?

not sure how the excersise is called, something like swipe the moon. You go into a hanging leg-raise with toes touching the bar (just make sure that your feet are high in the air) then make a swiping motion to the left and then to the right.
Pretty intense...

You're thinking of serratus anterior, Spiral. Bench press, shoulder press etc. Think of where the muscle originates and where it inserts, that should give you an idea of how it contracts and what sort of exercise you need to do for it.

Try full contact twists, you need a long weightlifting bar.
Don't lean foward or backwards, keep your back straight. You can do this from left to right. And add weight to the top end of the bar, the one that isn't in the corner.
