Hmm... interesting. I need a new cam cam to call my very own.

Question:

Can a usb 2.0 compatible camcorder be used on a computer with only old (sub 2.0) usb ports? Is capture speed/quality affected, or does it just plain not work?

this would appear to be the cheapest on the net.
avoiding ebay and other auctions/preowneds.

PC World? I'm impressed.

More deals like this, less of their corny ads and they might be on to something.

it does have firewire mike.
and if you don't have firewire then you can install a card quite easily.

and also it should work at usb but may drop frames.

Usb footage looks awful, there's no comparison between it and firewire.

I actually own this camera! But I suffer from using the USB to capture footage.:dead:

I think it's a good camera considering it's price. It's not very big at all, and it's quite light. I've used it once at night with "Color Nite mode", and found it pretty much useless, you can tell theres movement but you can't really see what the fuck just happened.

I'd say the only real con of the camera is that if you left it recording, the battery would last about an hour and a half. Which fills what? One tape and a half?

But it gets the job done. I'm not making a "Welcome Home" type sampler anytime soon.

I used to have firewire but I live at my dad's place now so tis a different computar.

So the battery life is lame huh?

i need an actual vid camera...sometimes i run out of memory space early in a session and either miss out on recording things if i'm out and about, or have to come in and dump it on my laptop hardrive.

From what I know 90-100minutes is pretty standard for a DV Camera.
Im using a Dony that cost £960 and the batteries I have for that both last for about 1hour 40mins.
If you need more time than that buy a new battery or as new one from ebay...

Maybe Dony is an obscure brand.
Or maybe I can't spell.
Yeah I should have said Sony.
My bad.
