Hey anyone got any tips for maximizing my height on my standing backtuck? Also not going crooked?

Try to flip at the same place! not going backward. Try to tuck at the peak. Don't forget to use arms and abs!

Yeah, it's all about upper body tourque, jumping UP and then curling your momentum backwards as fast (but controlled!) as possible. At first you may need your hands to fall, but if that happens don't focus on catching yourself. Do it anyways, but think about landing flat on your feet. You get a better sense of a balanced landing that way :)

Thats the think I'm not traveling backward and backward distance I get it marginal I might be opening to early I;m trying to get back my backtuck

not moving backwards is huge, but a few small things that might help you flip straight are:

1. spotting (find something above head height to look at as long as you can before you actually initialize the flip)

2. this isn't a small thing, but more of a huge thing. set! throw your arms so far above your head, with so much power, all of your blood is forced to your finger tips!

3. keep your back / posture straight. all of this sounds pretty gymnast, but arching your back will kill your initial jumping height.

I saw once on an other post some guy doing a backflip. His back was striaght, if I can recall properly, but his problem was that he didn't work with the hips enough. You should really kick yourself over and I guess you should lean a bit backwards or so. Correct me if I'm wrong.

it's all in the LOWER BODY!!!! fucking jump as hard as you can exactly the same as if you where just trying to measure your vert and then just throw your hips over your head while tucking to speed the rotation.

swinging your arms doesn't magically make you go higher foo's!!!!

i agree, post a video.. but im the one that went and resurrected this thread from the old and never to be seen again lol. anyhow.. - throwing your hips over would make your tuck almost more of a whip back. I say bring your knees to your chest as fast as you can.. with enough force and drive it provides all the backwards momentum you need.
