Aside from the obvious possible drawbacks such as food not getting digested as thoroughly, etc., you might choke to death.

I feel as though eating fast leaves you less satiated and you need to consume more.

The question is, do you want to gain weight ?

I try to eat all of my meals in under 8 minutes, so that I can stuff as much food into me as possible before my body sends signals to the brain telling it that i am "full"
it is how i have trained myself to withstand more food than your average person.
that, and force-feeding. haha!

I guess he does. (above poster)
I eat sloooooowly. Normally taking 30-45 minutes to eat a meal, I like the taste and it also enables me to get more down. I hate the instant satiety that sets in after gobbling something, it makes me slightly queasy.

Hmm...Does peanutbutter (stuff like jiffy) have too much fat in it? I'm trying for about 2300 cals a day and ussually just go by the calories per serving index, but theres othere shit like carbs and fats...not sure what else I should be considering into my diet.

Not really. Only in muscle i guess. Im not much of a body builder though. I just trick.
Yeah and i dont really care if i enjoy the taste less or whatever. Eating is not something that i enjoy alot or anything. Im just eating to stay alive/be healthy n stuff. Yup.
But thanks for the responses guys.

It takes something around 30 minutes to the informations that you are not anymore hungry to go to your brain. So if you eat a lots and don't do exercise, than you have more chance to get fat!
kinetic
May-10-07, 06:18 PM
I super excersize. But yeah thats pretty interesting to know. If i still feel hungry after a full meal, ill be sure not to eat much more.
thanks

hamelkarl: the only original journal I ever found on the subject pinpointed the number at around 8 minutes.
For some reason a lot of people say 20 minutes, but even when you check their references, it will either be based on different factors, or it just doesn't come up at all (at least not in the english language)...
And my personal experience says 8 minutes is about right for me. After that, my body begins to feel extremely full.
kinetic: if you want to gain muscle, you will have to gain a substantial amount of weight.
give up now.

Natural peanut butter (salt and peanuts) contain a large portion of fat. This comes naturally of course since peanuts are very fatty. What you must realise is that this is mainly unsaturated fat and is thus perfectly fine to eat. Saturated fat is also fine, as long as it doesn't go overboard (junk food being a prime example of being dense with saturated fat).

I learn the around 30 mins at my school. So it was in a french book.

I found this but it's in french...http://www.chezzaneta.be/antikilos.htm
And it's telling that it take 15 mins.
This one too http://www.gerble.fr/mes-dossiers.php?lang=L0&color=2&cle=115683416117&clebesoin=111876107338&UID=53b9303f2b381af7dba21b173699c9a4
It's almost the same 15 to 20 mins.
Sorry I was not right about my 30 minutes but 8 is really too short dude!

Test it out, get yourself a stopwatch and see how long it takes you to feel it. :P
Oh and thanks Rahf. Just wasn't sure if there was too much fat in it, and I'm not sure you'd call it natural peanutbutter. : /

I just wasn't sure if it was too much fat.
Well put it this way, most of the energy that comes from peanut butter stems from the fat. I went to the fridge and checked my own jar of "ecological natural peanut butter" to check the macronutrients and here's what I got:
Ingredients: Peanuts (99.7%), salt
Energy: 2590 kj. 2590/4,2 ~ 616kcal
Nutritional values per 100g
Protein: 29g
Carbohydrates: 13g
Fat: 52g
As you can see, more than half of the energy from natural peanut butter comes from fat. Remember that it is mainly unsaturated and is thus considered good fats. BUT! It is still not good to eat peanut butter in vast quantities. Hope that helped Kimimaro.

Really nice info Rahf!
Oh! And it tastes identical to your random dextrose, trans fat Skippy peanut butter, the only difference is probably the price (natural peanut butter being the more expensive).

Having 1 tablespoon of peanut butter right before you go to bed, along with a casein protein is very good for keeping yourself from going catabolic when you sleep. The fat helps slow absorption of the casein protein, which by itself is already slow digesting. Another good alternative would be milk

When I was training I was taking olive oil before to go to bed! It's better than peanut butter because it have no carbs! And will also you give that catabolic stance when you will sleep. The Casein is good also to take before to sleep, providing you a slow digestion of protein during the whole night!
Try that jkarate212!
Jkarate: The peanut butter is not really useful in that sense, casein takes 7 hours to be fully absorbed, imagine how long it takes when you're sleeping and your metabolism is lowered. If it makes you feel good having a routine, stick with it. If you're doing it because of potential gains, forget it. If you keep a steady protein intake during the day, the protein synthesis will still keep your muscles constant. Protein catabolism and synthesis is constant.
Personally I eat cottage cheese, mostly just to have a filler before bed. Being catabolic during the night does not bother me.
Remember people, don't do it because you are afraid missing out on gains or something. Do it because it makes you sleep well (applies to me), or to compensate for missed meals during the day (seldomly applies to me).
Those are my personal opinions on the matter.

I typically will eat bagels, or drink huge glasses of whole milk while in bed.
I used to eat poptarts while climbing into bed to get those calories. 2 fudge poptarts plus 2 cups of whole milk total = 714 calories.
I don't really recommend stuffing all your calories in at once though, because a good chunk of them will simply not be used and become putrified in your intestines and shat out like a blaze of herpes made of fire ants.

One advantage I see to less chewing is probably less cavities.
