Hey, this is my first post here. I am pretty new to tricking and can't do any actual tricks yet but would like to learn. I can do stuff like backflips and frontflips on trampolines, but not on flat ground.

The first trick I am trying to do is a btwist. Here is a video of a few of my attempts, and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with it.

The first clip (wearing a white shirt) was on Tuesday and all the other clips were from today. After analyzing the clips I took on Tuesday, I tried to figure out what I was doing wrong (reading through different tutorials and old posts on this forum), but when I tried them today I seem to be doing worse then before? It seems that when I dip more I land on my knees, and when I don't dip, I don't get horizontal but I land on my feet. I think I still need to dip more overall. I put a few 720 spins in there as I have also been working on those. Anyones here is the clip:

Thanks.

Good attempts! How's your B-Kick? You're kindof going straight across and into the twist with your torso like this: ---- Instead, focus on dipping and creating a kindof U motion to get more height before you lift off with your right leg and then initiate the twist. You've got the twisting motion down, just concentrate on body awareness and improving your setup. Use those arms to twist. Throw a hook with your right and an elbow with your left.

For your setup, keep watching good clips of btwists. Eventually you'll find a spinning setup that will give the right amount of momentum for you.

ACtually, just watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef1tRhUcTlE

^^I wish I had that when I was learning to btwist.. :punched:

Wooooow you're backyard grass is so good you lucky bastard.

If you wrapped with your arms you probably woulda landed. Also, rise the first leg hard behind you right before takeoff. Nice start man :good:

Nice attempts! You definitely have the height to land this move. You have to work on technique and speed and I think you will have a great btwist.

Thanks for the comments everyone. My b-kicks are alright I think, just need to get my feet a little higher. I find it easier to get more horizontal with a btwist then a b-kick. I have a few questiosn before I try some more tomorrow:
How does the run up look? Should I run faster/slower/stay the same?
Am I starting the twist to early? To me it seems, when I do a better dip, I tend to start the spin earlier then I would have if I didn't dip as good.

okay man those are pretty good for your first go. next time you try them try to dip a little lower and to stall. the stall is quite important in a b-twist but if you have a low enough dip it wont be that important so just work on the dip and the stall if needs be it.

Hey guys I practiced some more btwists today and filmed a few. I think I am starting to get them, just needs some more pratice. I also filmed some frontflips and a bent knee doubleleg/sideflip attempt thing (not sure what it is) There are six clips in the video (sorry the video is kind of long):

http://media.putfile.com/btwists-frontflips-and-doubleleg

1. First clip is a btwist attempt. I think this one was pretty good but I could of gotten a little more horizontal. I'm happy landing on my feet instead of knees now though.
2. 2nd btwist clip. I like this one better than the first because my body was more horizontal and I still landed on my feet. I think this one was really close to an actual btwist, I just need to stop putting my hands down. What do you guys think?
3. Frontflip off a mini-trampoline
4. Frontflip on the ground attempt (any tips?)
5. I think with the 2nd frontflip on the ground, I jumped higher/started the flip later but didn't get quite as much rotation (do I have the height for this trick)?
6. Just a bent knee doubleleg attempt. At least thats what it is supposed to be. (I can land these on normal trampolines (just learned them), either normally or with a 180/360 twist in them).

Thanks for the help so far.

From my undertanding of the b-twist (I'm working on it too) I'd say you need to bring your arms in more, almost hug yourself. For front flips, nice job, better than mine. However, I say lose the pillows, the grass doesn't hurt that much and your more likely to land stable. The pillows look like they're slipping from under you.
How long have you been tricking for???

Yeah I think I just need to fine-tune a few things for the btwist and I think I'll have it. When I was trying them today, I focused alot on kicking my right leg up and then helped alot. For frontflips, I think I'd rather get my land a few crouched down (landing on my feet) before I take the cushions away. It probably does make it harder to land, but I just want to be a little more confident with them.

I've messed around on trampolines alot, doing stuff like backflips (learned about a year ago) and frontflips (learned maybe 4 years ago? I dont know),but I've never tried anything on the ground until I started trying btwists on Monday (first trick). So I guess I've been actually tricking for 6 days?

More power, more power in the setup.
Your setup slows down the whole move, that's why you should stop jumping up and down like a monkey, but running forward, exactly like in the wushu b-kick tut posted before.

1. Watch Juji's tutorial cause its really good.

2. Get that first leg up high, really high. This'll: gain you height, make you horizontal and make you stall (making it look cool)

3. When you run up get that left leg out in front more and jump hard off it.

My vid here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKiUODnFX3A) is the only one I have online and while its not great I still land it. It shows the dip pretty well unlike my avatar

Alright i'll try to get my run up better for the btwist (get more power/momentum/height) from it.

For frontflips, I was wondering is it easier to do a cartwheel into a frontflip than to just do a normal running front flip (like how backhandsprings to backflips are easier than just standing backflips)? I tried to relearn cartwheels today (I could do them a long, long time ago) but didn't have much luck. I think I might try to get cartwheel to frontflips first before just frontflips.

I think I'm going to attempt a backflip tomorrow or within the next few days. I've watched loads of tutorials on it and know the technique for it, and I can do them on trampolines. So hopefully I don't die when I try it (if I can get myself to try it)

Hey guys, here are a few attempts from today:

http://media.putfile.com/btwists-5-27-07

I think I've improved my run up into the trick a little bit from before. I've been trying to use my arms more (bringing them in) in the twist and that is helping me a little bit. I can land on both feet probably about 80% of the time now, but I usually will still put both hands on the ground (only 1 hand in the last clip). I think I am having trouble getting my body back to normal after I am horizontal. I think I need to stall more before the twist too, but whenever I do that, I usually won't get enough rotation. What do you guys think?

Thanks.

Wooooow you're backyard grass is so good you lucky bastard.

LOL same here ^

For the twist, I would try to jump more and get the body more horizontal.
