after i started laughing at this, i noticed he leans back right before he/she extends his leg to increase the height of the kick.

would that really work? what else can leaning back to do the kick?

Okay yeah, time for bed.

But first, a "quick reply."

Leaning back gives your body a "see-saw" effect. Top goes down, bottom goes up. It allows for a much higher reach. Other than that, it really throws off your balance.

Ben Brown (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAwLrOTFK3o) has some really high and floaty 360's. A far better model than a chimp imo.

lean too far and you'll end up with scratches all over your face, from the monkey

Chimps aren't monkeys.

the monkey/chimp w/e is doing what looks like a true 360 hook. most people do 360 crescents and even if they call them 360 hooks, they're just slanted crescents.

For it to be a hook, i believe the kick should travel completely sideways, which requires the body to be bent over, which is strange positioning, but i've never seen a good 360 hook with the body upright.

you may need to lean slightly, but you can do a proper hook kick with your body pretty much upright depending on your hip flexability, and thats only if your kicking above your waist when your in the air, some people have hips flexable enough for them to kick pretty much upright with next to no leaning back, others need to lean back loads,

with regards to the chimp, if you lean back a little and fire a very fast kick out upwards it should give you a little extra height, but i doubt it will be anything ground breaking...
