Which take off is better for 540:

1) To spin a 180 on your foot, then change legs and jump (like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCqlZrwrABY )

2) To jump a 180º on your foot, then change legs and jump, like Juji does (like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWbwllxtzjY )

I feel its preference for how you want to start the kick off, but generally the first method is the method i see more often, where as the hop takeoff looks a bit eh, sloppy or goofy. I do the first take off personally.

as for which one is better, i think you can get more momentum doing the first take off then the second take off, more constant rotation from the first one then if you were to hop into it.

I learned Juji's way first (old-school), and then the style illustrated in the first video by Matt Emig. I like the old-school way of doing it personally, because not many people do it that way anymore, but the other method is more useful if you're using the 540 in combos since it provides a smoother transition from one move to another.

First way is good for combos, second good for power moves which require a LOT of energy, like a hyper cheat 900.

Both are equal in potential power if you do them correctly, but i think it's easier to get that power out of the Juji method.

the first one for sure!

i suggest NOT learning the first setup!!

i know what i'm talking bout :p

now i use the "normal" setup ( like matt emig) and i tell you, IT'S MUCH BETTER!!

the first takeoff seems to give more spin momentum while the second gives more vertical

I use the second take off because, well I first learned it that way, and second because I get more momentum that way. BUT, I like how the first take off looks better. I looks more controlled and seems that it would combo better. Well, combo into better, juji's way I think looks good to start a combo.

i like the juji way...when i can do 540s...i think its better for the 540 kick but the side step take off is better for 540c
