During this semester the last few months I have not been going to karate because I have been so packed in school, but i have been taking Pilates and Yoga to keep up my strength and flexibility. Yesturday was my first day back at karate and to my suprise i pulled out a freaking 540! The only thing is i can hardly land it. i always fall foward when i do the kick. My kicks where higher too! I was like what the heckkkkk. Must be the Pilates and Yoga... Does anyone take Pilates or Yoga? Do you think it helps out that much?

I do now know, but all I know is that I love that triple kick thingy you do. Make a tutorial for it or something. What would you call that kick.

Increased flexibility and balance from yoga, strengthened hip muscles from Pilates. That's about the only things that are usefull from thoose two systems, the rest is just shit (inner peace, "toning" and so on).

Karate will probably keep up strength better than pilates and yoga. The two systems have information to offer but their unexact methods do not cater easily to measurement, and both are steeped in pseudoscientific beach-body-like superstitions.
'Hundreds' come to mind. 'The best abdoinal exercise in existance' is what Pilates-people call it. If you actually look at it, all it really is cruching your chest up (with arms pointing towards feet, making it as easy as possibl) and then wiggling a bit for a pulsing sensation. Probably because Pilates thought the side flexion would work resisted side flexion.
What I don't understand is why they have to suck in their bellies during everything they do, since the transversus abdominis is naturally contracted as needed in most tension anyway. I guess turning it on more than needed is like a safety mechanism.

Disagreed! I do not do anything in my karate classes that builds strength... You guys are lucky you have karate classes that work on strength.

Hitting targets and doing pushups/squats in class is like strength training, and probably way more intene than anything in yoga or pilates, save the frog stand beause that's a neat one.
I have capoeira and gynmastic friends who do yoga they say it's great.

Yeah, for flexibility and relaxation. But if thoose aren't your goals then it probably ain't.
