View Full Version : I can't b-kick after landing b-twists

So I've been b-twisting for a while, and when I try to do a b-kick, I go into a b-twist anyway haha. Is this normal for you guys too? Should I bother trying to re-learn my b-kick for the sake of a better b-twist?

I'm sure it's just a problem in my mindset though, I've just gotta flick off that b-twist switch, and turn on the b-kick one.

Haha I had posted a reply to this last night but as I hit "submit reply" I got Juji's maintenance message. What bad timing. Anyways here I go again, wasn't very long:

What you're experiencing is normal. At least for enough people. I experienced the same exact thing. I had done bkicks quite well by the time I started btwisting and it was just in me. But after doing enough twists I had formed the habit of twisting out of it. That's easy to do seeing as they both have the same takeoff. That's all it is though. HABIT. Of course I eventually got out of it and was able to do both back to back at will, no problems. It takes some practice and focus but you'll get over it too.

To start, just work on them during different times seperately and gradually start doing them together. Eventually you can do them each seperately again no problem. You pretty much answered your own question, so just work on it. Doesn't take too long. For me it was a matter of a few sessions at most.

Wow I think it's hecka a problem lol.

Why would you be twisting? There should be no confusion whatsoever really, to twist is a completely unique and separate motion. If you twist you need to start picking somewhere to look and look at it. And do it very slowly too. It's a bkick.

It's not that weird. I've had it, Zeff obviously has and I'm sure that means many others have as well. It's not hard to understand. If you didn't have the problem then obviously you can't know what it feels like. From experience though it makes perfect sense. You get in a habit of twisting out of the bkick, so when you go to bkick you start turning your shoulder over out of habit, even though your thoughts are on just doing a bkick.

It's a matter of forcing the right habit back in with a little progress. I'm not sure why you're acting like that Skilzat. It's not like it's a huge problem anyway. Like I said in my previous post, easily fixed with just a little practice.

Yeah its happened to me. Still does sometime if I go for a really huge bkick. Its nothing serious though. If I really want to do a bkick I still can.

Ahaha I dunno. I just think it's a matter of trying to do it too fast.

When I first learned Raiz I'd always take off like a butterfly twist whenever I tried doing it quickly or in combination.

If you slow it down (RELAX lolz) and think about it then you can be like heeeeey lets do this.

bkicks should be fast! it's like *WOOSH* *enters elliptical orbit*

so the doing a btwist by accident thing sometimes happens if you fall asleep. it's easily fixable and probly wont happen twice in a row.

B-Kicks should be fast....after you can do them consistently lol. Which requires doing them in whatever method will allow you to do them consistently at first.

i hate seeing people do their bkicks so freakin slow!!! AAHHHH HOLY SHIT

I pretty much always throw a b-kick before throwing a twist in a session, and I've never had trouble differentiating between the two.

It's like this hang up I have, I usually work through the pre-reqs until I get to the trick I want to work on.

Thinking about it, this is probably the reason why I have strong basics but little in the way of advanced variations.

Fuck.

don't punch your arms round at all then...

and see if you can do it by just lifting your shoulders and head up (maybe to see something behind you) to encourage your back to arch as much as possible, that way it'll be really hard to twist, or you'll be put into excruciating pain if you do twist :good:
