View Full Version : hyper cork/box cutter
I just landed a hyper cork at practice last night and i was trying to throw the hook so it would be a box cutter. I can't seem to figure out how to get my balance right on landing though, so that I can get the hook out. I think maybe I'm not going up as much as I'm going over in the cork, but what tips do you guys have?

Theres your problem jackass.
drill hyper corks for a week or so before trying to boxcutter.
get the proper feel of a hyper cork then come back.
but good job on hyper cork.
hyper corks
hyper cork

I'm not dissin', simone! I just chuckled. It was almost like you had a pre-set response and just replaced gaps with "hyper cork" and "boxcutter". It basically is a template post:
drill [landed trick]s for a week or so before trying to [next sought variation].
get the proper feel of a [landed trick] then come back.
but good job on [landed trick].

What? I pointed out the obvious flaw in his lack of boxcutter haha.

try a j-step instead of running straight forward...
but actually run in a j shape while leaning inwards like you are running on a curved wall. this should get your blocking angles right.
you are really low is what i'm saying
ya normally I do j step, I was trying a slightly different setup but I will go back to J step.
And whats with you assholes? I asked a simple question and all you do is talk shit.

i can't believe you're whining about this
anyway why did you even need this thread? one look at what you said and i think "well no shit you JUST landed a less difficult prerequisite" and then one look at the video of said less difficult prerequisite and i think "damn that shit is really low he should drill it some"
pretty obvious
well the reason I asked was cause that clip was from earlier in the session and this move wasn't hard for me to land. It was just the first time I decided to attempt it. A box cutter isn't that much more difficult than a hyper cork. Thats why I asked.
Here is a clip from an attempted box cutter, so I started this thread in hopes I would get some tips on keeping my body upright. I'm not trying to start a shit thread or whine, but a simple question deserves a simple answer, or none at all. No point in just straight up being a dick.

Why the hell are you guys being assholes? He asked for help, wasn't being a retard either, and what, he gets FLAMED? Yey for people-skills! And what's with the completely unnecessary threadjacking?
Matt R, you really are not funny.
As for your corks, you're moving sideways a lot while in the air. I don't know if this usually happens to you with the J-step, but it's taking away momentum that you could turn into height. You should land pretty close to where you jump. I'd work on this before training boxcutters. Think I should mention I can't do corks myself, so this is just an opinion based on analyzing the technique.
EDIT:
Kinda off-topic, but I dunno if you have seen this,

Matt R, you really are not funny.
I respectfully disagree.
A box cutter isn't that much more difficult than a hyper cork.
Totally incorrect.

Totally incorrect.
exactly. if you kick too early it looks shit or you kill your self. you have to kick at just the right moment AND you actually have to kick.
