I don't take off both legs at the same time on my attempts (since I still can't doubleleg) and honestly doing the quick roll from one foot to the other before taking off has been the most important advancement for me trying to learn doubleleg. Doing that totally changed my form from some stupid backflip thing to an actual up and over sideways movement seen in a proper doubleleg. Using a punch off the ground takeoff looks like total handicapped crap in my opinion. Avoid doing it. You need to rely on the torque movement for momentum, not some rebound off the ground. If you do you'll find it easy to do such stupid doubleleg on plyo but immensely harder on grass. Do the takeoff that can be applied on any surface and looks better anyway.
For the runup I just do a little jog and plant my feet down one at a time, and of course am prepping my arms to swing down and then up for when I want to jump. No hop step or whatever that some people do, like Juji. That didn't work for me. You have to experiment with takeoffs for this move to find the one that works best for you. Watch a lot of videos of it and try each one. I'm sure you'll find something eventually. I messed with this move forever and once I deciding to ignore everyone else's recommendations and try something I hadn't seen much of, it made all the difference and I finally got somewhere with it. I'm sure I'd have it by now but I haven't messed with it in quite a while. Thanks for the reminder haha.

Alright, i'll try the one at a time thing tomorrow.
By the way, what should i do with the sideflip, punch right?
I just came back to tricking (besides this last week i haven't tricked in like 1.5years or a bit less) anyway i used to have a pretty good doubleleg on plyo (punch style =/ ) so i was trying to relearn it the past few days in my schools wrestling room (wrestling mats are amazing for tricking all year round, unlike grass which is amazing sometimes and shit other times, like right now where i live it's hard as shit) it wasn't working so hot. So i'll go for the non-punch tomorrow and hope it works.
Thanks for the reminder haha.
Yeah, doubleleg is one of the coolest tricks, when done well it looks so amazing.

Approach doubleleg as it's own move, not LIKE any other move. Sideflip, frontflip, all of that. FORGET it. It's not the same thing at all. Doesn't feel the same. None of it. Make that mistake and you'll end up doing THOSE moves, not doublelegs. End of story.

I wasn't asking for that reason. I was asking because 2 of the moves i've been drilling and trying to get are the doubleleg and sideflip, so i'm wondering if i should continue punching on the sideflip

Oh. Well honestly I don't think drilling them at the same time is a good idea. It could screw with your technique when you're going into something a little similar. I mean if you aren't screwing up either technique because of habits from doing one or the other, then go for it. Otherwise just concentrate on one first, then the other. Sideflip you could punch yes, but you could also roll off your feet one at a time just like with doubeleg. That's how I want to learn it anyways. Up to you I guess, but you can do either with a sideflip I suppose.

DO IT EXACTLY THE SAME AS YOUR 360 CRESCENT SET UP.
Just a mini step forwards and a sidestep and you're away.
