I tried this out the other day and it didn't turn out too bad i guess. i think one of my problems is im slightly turning my hips when im upside down, which stops me from getting all the way back.

A couple of questions though

1. does anyone else slip a lot using the J-Half turn when they plant their foot? haha, i have a vid of that if anyone wants to see. not too bad though

2. where should i be looking with this move from the beginning of the jump?

3. annd when do i arch my back? do i jump straight up?? i want to get this really floaty

thanks

Your setup looks awkward.. take off however gives you the most power. Try and keep your arms up throughout the move and pull your legs to your arms.

alright sounds good, thanks. im thinking tomorrow i might try it from almost standing. just take one turning step and then throw it, because i always feel like im going to slip if i have to much speed =/

im going to give you the same response that i gave someone else:

your biggest problem is your jstep, at the moment it isn't solid, doesn't flow and as a result you aren't making the most of the run up momentum.

practice 3 step jsteps, as you are taking off your left foot; stand in a stance with your right foot forward and your left foot behind. the idea is to take a 90 degree turn in the jstep.

here is a picture to demonstrate some things:

take extra special note of the jstep part and the 3rd stage of the takeoff part.

Its good, old your foots stronger there.

basically, your jumping without any shift of momentum, hop then kick, it`s like running in2 a roundoff with no hop.

alright cool, that diagram does give me a couple of ideas, thanks andy. i should be able to get this down in my next session or two. i usually do trick without shoes but i felt like trying it with them on, i dont want to get too used to tricking without shoes on. and shoes give me a little little bit more grip. here's without shoes from that same first session

and i think i might try using my high jump spikes one day, just for the hell of it. i'll probably rip my legs open or something though haha. they're as light as a feather too haha

Go barefoot instead.

Also curve your Jstep more and don't take so many steps

ahh hellraiser you're gainers are exactly how i want mine haha. but yeah next session i'll try the three step and i'll also try messing around with a 6-7 step with a good amount of speed. hopefully one of them works out haha

i think it looks really good just dont reach for the ground it makes your chest go down and looks like you landed it lower than you really did

Andy that drawing was fucking awesome. Do what he says. Also scream! chi releasing scream it helps. keep your front leg straighter an use your arms more, i.e. use them from the beginning of the J-step.
