hey guyz, I'm new to this trixxing and would like for you guys to help me out. I have a few questions:
how long will it take me to backflip and witch martial art is better for trixxing? My friend told me tie kwon doo is best for trix?

I'm from derby so if anyone in the area would like to come and help my trix then come meet me, apparently they have a gym her?

Go find ur nearest gymnastiks place thing and pay them to spot you so youll be safe, coz i herd that some guy died doing a backflip when he didnt use a spotter!!

Firstly, you must condition your neck by throwing yourself off of high platforms and landing directly on it. That way you won't need to fear the backflip: you'll have a bulldozer neck to save you in case something goes wrong!

If flips are a problem - screw them for now!

How about starting with a 540, or even a B-kick (leads on to B-twist).

Both (in my opinion) are less risky than backflips, and look cool :juji:

ps: Tae Kwon Do won't really help you if you're joining it just to practice tricking. You may find many other aspects of it (such as learning forms, etiquette, self defence) somewhat uninteresting. Normally first classes are free, so go check it out. I started off as a Tae Kwon Doka, and got into trix - and the kicks and stretching I did in it are helping me out now heaps!

pps: Are you really new to tricking :dead: You have Posts: 3,125 ?!

who said TKD is good in the streets is a retard. If you know how to apply TKD to street fighting maybe but most practitioners of it cant since it does teach application for street fighting.

I understand where you're coming from...but just because TKD doesn't formally teach street application, doesn't mean that it has no street application.

Sometimes the student must supply his own answers...but this is hard when it comes to TKD because alot of the practicioners are kinda closed minded [which is proabably the reason why you say TKD is not "good" in the streets for "most" practicioners].

I think it is fair to say that the people who use TKD in street-like confrontations well...do so, because they are "fighters". Not ever martial artist is a "fighter", they do not have that instinct.

It's a well-known fact that the only martial art that works in street fighting applications is Krav Maga. All the rest are just fairy dance forms.

Jun-15-07, 08:50 PM
Well last time I checked, these fairy dance forms can kick your sorry ass LOL

I'm with sessh on this one. Sure, if you use TKD on the streets in the exact same way you do it in the dojo/dojang with sparring partners who follow the same rules - you're likely to get clobbered. However, the kicks themselves, if executed properly, are devastatingly powerful, and as written in The Tricking Bible, can cause paralysis, etc...

A fighter can apply these techniques to work on the streets, regardless of what MA background they're from.

"There is no best martial art, but best martial artists" (forgot who said it, but its some cool guy).

No wai, I would destroy any TKD practitioner ever with my Jewish style of street fighting. Fairy dance forms are for women and gypsies.

You're not ready for tricks yet. You might want to start out with the basics of the basics like the butterfly kick.

I suggest you watch the UK Tricking Gathering video from last year and check mine out. They're a pretty good reference to go by.

Good luck.
