you have no twisting power at all.... and the weird thing is i cant see why...perhabs you're just moving much to slow...yeah that's it i just watched it again..you have to move much faster it looks reaaaally sloppy...so my tipp:move your arms MUCH faster...

edit: and i hate this style of a double leg, it looks shitty... do it like juji does it...go into it like a 360 etc...

towels, just take a look at your avatar and ANY CHEERLEADER OR GYMNAST WHO CAN FULL WELL, not even doublefull,

you do not set a full with knees bent and arms out like you are going to hug someone.

I am going to guess the reason that you don't want to swing your arms up and back is because when you do you flip too fast and over-rotate which not only is dangerous but imposible to get a good doublefull into.

so what you need to do is work a nice high layout that YOU CAN JUST LAND COMFORTABLY, that means that you flip at a speed that you just finish the flip as you hit the ground (NO WHIPPING EITHER) then do the full in 3 steps

1: arms up to a cheer high V, you should know what that is, legs straight just like the layout

2: start dropping your left arm and shoulder and moving them backwards behind you

3: start to turn your upper body and your right arm to meet them back there, then pull in tight

as long as you keep for the most part straight like a layout you should have a nice, high clean full that you could make a double NOT BY PULLING HARDER, but by holding longer

I was just getting my doublefulls really clean as my ankle was getting weaker and weaker. now i can't work it cause i can't do anything with a roundoff in it

fuck injuries

cheers adam!

But what I don't understand. I can nail this move off a roundoff. On plyo and tumble track, but can't even get myself around on the tramp at all.

Dovicka

a roundoff or ro bhs allows you to block, thus set better, thus get more flip

that is why when i tried my doublefulls on plyo after i did them on tramp so much i over-rotated, fully layed out, because i was used to making myself flip instead of setting in order for my blocking to flip me over

Analyse your dub full off plyo frame by frame in comparison to your one off a tramp. You should be able to spot the differences like that.

Jun-16-07, 08:54 PM
ahhh damn

MasterSword
Jun-16-07, 08:57 PM
you cant nail it ben stop exaggerating. You can get in on tumble track and maybe plyo but you definately dont nail it.

Thankyou Dovicka

go back to basics. remember how you would get more height on your tucks? you reached UP first, right?

do that with your fulls, dub fulls etc. reach UPPPPPPPPPP with your armzzzzz

i feel like a surgeon whos cutting up a homeless man on his way home from a 12 hour day for this doing it, since im spending 9 hours a day coaching oympians in cali but...

shoulder seperation then wrap evenly. twisting is not done by twisting, its a gyroscopic imbalance under controlled conditions. so get imbalanced like now.

this the first 15 mins of comp time i had in 3 days. u better get a better double kthx.

hahaha I will kind sir. If I understand your post correctly.

lol Luke, I meant the track.

you are setting with arms in like a jesus pose. You will spin faster and have more height with your arms up, spinn a half with your head and hips then wrap. you can stall, so if you put your arms up and keep a hollow body position, you shouldnt ahve a problem
edit : sry if this is been repeated I didn't see that there was more than one page

Damnit, I still can't manage the concept. I feel if I set up then my twisting will hurt and I wont rotate. Is this false and I need to get over it?

Dovicka
Jun-17-07, 11:48 AM
FALSEEEE
if you stall your spin (right) you will spin FASTER

MasterSword
Jun-17-07, 09:53 PM
arrg my body just doesnt get the idea of spinning two times with just one flip!! Are you supposed to look at the ground while spinning? If not where do you look?

why not pull harder? just curious cuz that's what i do for all my twists

Because if you dont stall and invert, you can wrap all you want and stay on an upright angle like this / and get nowhere lol.

As towels did in this vid actually.

its kinda weird actually, thats what i used to do, and have a habit of unintentionally doing when i doublefull on grass, but if you stall your spin and don't pull into then spin hard, just wrap tight, its like a whole new level of spinning speed and when I do them on plyo it like "set, SPIN, open......land"

Setting is a bitch for me. On everything I do. Double fulls and backs.

You go to a gym, ask a coach (er, or just some experience gymnast who can full doublefull etc) for help. After all, they are taught to have perfect form so you should at least be able to pick up some basic principles from them in regards to twisting.

Flowers
Jun-18-07, 09:27 AM
They know how to do it, but I always find tricksters are better at explaining it.

Dovicka
Jun-18-07, 01:06 PM
what all gymnasts say to me, which i find weird is that a full is a half - half , a double is a half - 1 1/2 a triple is a half - 2 1/2. and that working front fulls, rudi's (1 1/2) and randys (2 1/2) really helps with control of the spin, but I haven't had a chance to try it since my ankle got broked
