Post your best times on the indoor rower :wicked:

500m - 1:26.6
1000m - 3:10.5
2000m - 6:48.1

great work steve, all indoor rowers have different resistance levels anyway making it unfair haha

there is an option on most of them (the concept2 ones anyway) called 'drag factor' which you can set so all the machines you go on are set to the same resistance.
most gyms (in the uk anyway) have concept rowers, i dont know about abroad. so it would be pretty darn fair i reckon
I killed someone once with one kick, so I think I'm the fittest

fuck off out the thread if you dont care about rowing!
if u hadn't noticed this is a tricking forum and your in a fitness sub section, meaning fitness that impacts on tricking, you also used awful diction is asking who is the fittest on TT, then u could also ask who is fitter a Sprinter, Long Distance runner, Power Lifter, Boxer or a Trickster? (obviously the trickster but hell) Hence you are snubbed, and then go crying why are these guys flaming me *sob* and its because your a douche!
I don't know if u deserved as much as I just said but u deserved enough of it for me to go a little overboard.

How does rowing machine determine fitness!?
How about:
100m time
300m time
1000m time
3000m time
10,000m time
30,000m time
For running/jogging/walking/whatever. But just you, and the ground you're running on.

Who cares about rowing! What is that shit anyway! Who want to be fit doing rowing! Tricks can get us fit so why will I care about rowing! The best thing you can do to be lean is to do your work in the gym (Squat-Deadlift-Leg Press-Bench Press) and do your cardio outside (tricks and walking) Work a lot your big muscle, and do a lot of cardio! Don't forget to eat well (nutrition is the key to be fit)

i realise rowing isn't an exact indication of fitness, but it is a pretty good measure. if i was talking specifically about tricking i wouldn't have posted in the 'training and conditioning' subforum.
also, you're picking on my diction?? LOL
they can 'flame' me all they want, its the intarnets! who cares?
How does rowing machine determine fitness!?
the rower determines fitness the same as any other gym equipment surely? the faster you can run a mile in, the fitter you are. the faster you can cycle 10k in the fitter you are etc.
The best thing you can do to be lean is to do your work in the gym
i'm not trying to get lean, im trying to get fit
all i was asking was for some peoples rowing times because i read there was a few people who rowed on here! jeez guys, stop bein so negative

The guy's been rowing and wants to compare times, it's not that big of a deal guys.
I'll try a rowing machine today and give you my distance after 30 minutes. You can figure out the distance/time based on ratios from that.

I think the beef here is his use of the word 'fit' to encompass only rowing.
A long distance runner vs. an olympic weight lifter. Who is fitter? The one who can row faster? No. The olympic lifter can squat more than the distance runner, does it make him more fit? The long distance runner can outrun the olympic lifter, does it make him more fit?

i agree, but if i had called this thread ''post your rowing times'' i would have gotten about two responses and the thread would have drifted into the abyss of page 2 without anyone even noticing!
i know a lot of top rugby teams use the rower for fitness testing. it does give some bearing to how fit you are, but it would be mostly a sport specific fitness the same as anything
If I want to get good at rowing, I row.
If I want to get good at running, I run.
If I want to get good at cycling, I haul my ass on that bike several days a week.
If I want to have higher testo-levels, I live in celibacy and stay off masturbating.
If I want Scott to show man-love, I play Sonata Arctica.
Rowing is not a measure of fitness, people who actively row are going to be "more fit" in that sense. These people can, as Anfeyd said, easily be outrun by a random long-distance runner who'd die in a rowing competition with them.
A good way to notice the difference is being an excellent long-distance runner and try biking a longer distance. I have horrible cycling endurance.

The only way to objectively measure fitness levels is by using CROSSFIT. Or KETTLEBELLS.

You just have to be sure you're doing the right thing. I mean it's very easy to forget - she's was just sitting there in the pub with her new friends and her new life and her new hair and it might been five years but you'd know just to look at her. I wasn't even sure it was her at first, I was ready to walk away but she smiled and called me over and we said hello for a bit. When we went back to our tables we were tried not to look over at each other and told our friends to stop staring. I didn't see her for the rest of the night, but by closing time the beer's kicked in so I go up and speak to her and we end up going for a walk and talking about our new homes, our new jobs, our new friends and our new birds.
She says she's been going out with him now for about two and a half years, but they don't live together so he'd never find out. And you think about chasing her about school when you were wee and lying in your bed and listening to love songs and pretending they were about you. And the first time you asked her out she said no but one night you went to a wedding and when you came back to the pub she'd changed her mind and you went out. You remember the way she swung her arms when she held your hand but you can't remember how she kissed and now you've got the chance to find out. But you have to remember there's this other kiss. And she's sitting at home, wondering where you are and what you're doing. And you work hard on this kiss and you know it inside out, it's as much yours as it is hers, and it took a long time to get right, it took months of practice and months of embarassment but now you've got it perfected and you've been looking forward to that kiss all week.
You can see her breath in the air between your faces as you stand in the leaves and she just asks you straight out if you want to come and stay at her flat. But you make sure you get separate taxis and you go home and there might be a slight regret and maybe you'll wonder what you missed but you have to remember the kiss that you worked so hard on - and you'll know you've done the right thing.

OK, so at the gym today I tried the rower. I've never done it before and it made my back hurt...and I didn't go very hard because of that but I got 6850 meters in 30 minutes. 2 minutes of that was super slow warm up and 2 minutes of it was super slow cool down, and I didn't really get the hang of it the first 10 minutes.
But there you go, a time to compare with yours.

I almost read all this, so I must be quite fit.
Who's the fittest person on TT, plus comme "who can row better than me?"
I've won national tournaments in Tkd, I've tricked for a good amount of years, I can jog an hour without stopping, I can lift a fair amount of weight, I can do all splits, put my legs behind my head etcetc, I've held my breath underwater for about 2 minutes (wooow...)... uhhh .... I punched a hole through a wooden wall once because I was pissed at my mother.
Never really did care for rowing though.

But Jan, how do you fare on the ROWING MACHINE at your gym? That's what being fit is all about.
Ooooooooooooohhhhh..... Riiiiight.... Sawry, sawry!
I once did 3100 metres in a bit less than 12 minutes, because that was one of the phys. ed. requirements to get an A. Other than that, I haven't rowed at all.
Am I fit now?? I wanna be as fit as the original poster etc!
