View Full Version : Progression over the next 3 months...

Ok, TT. I have a plan.

I should be getting my new camera on July 19th. Within a week after I get it, I want to record all of the following tricks as I have them now.

Hook Kick
Narabong
360 Crescent
Pop 720
Cheat 720
Cheat 900
Btwist
Aerial
540
Raiz
Au Batido
Masterswipe
Coindrop
Cartwheel > Front Flip
Tornado > ST Gainer

After this, I will save the videos and then drill all of these tricks. After 3 months of drilling them every session, I will record again. Then, I'll post the videos here, to show my progression.

Why am I doing this experiment??

The main reason is because I used to trick with TXT every Saturday, but our gym closed down for a long time. I hated tricking by myself, and my friends all live pretty far. So I basically lost all my tricks. At the TXT Gathering 07, I spent quite a bit of time getting back the feel of tricking. I lost some of my favorite tricks, like Cheat9 and Illtwist to splits.

So with this experiment, we can see how much 3 months of dedicated training can do for my tricks. Don't think I'll stop after that, I just set a time period that I want to see some noticable improvement.

Another reason for doing this is because the more you drill your basics, the cleaner you are and the better your more advanced tricks look. Basics are key. That's something G Dong taught me back when I first met him. I used to want to try things like cork before I could btwist. I wanted things like Doubleleg before I had a nice 360 Crescent. Now that I realize it takes a strong foundation to have nice combos and advanced tricks, I want to get them to my satisfaction.

Wish me luck, guys.

Oh, and try to keep this thread alive, even if it is with meaningless jibberish so that I can post the videos in this same thread.

Sounds cool :good: just make new threads when you post up your first vid and then another one in 3months.

3months seems a bit long really but hey, it's your choice and should be cool to see a good improvement.

Good luck

good idea dude :good:

you're working with what you have which is the best idea.

can i suggest a few additions (well, more progressions on what you already have written) to the list which you may discover arnt too difficult when you give em a shot. (maybe you can already do these haha - they just add to the whole clean foundation thing)

hypertwist
brandy/aerial switch
pop900
*blank spins* (working towards 1080)
sideswipe
360gyro
parafuso
jacknife

the reason i made these suggestions is because this list looks vaguely similar to some things iv written last year. hope you're successful with it anyways!

Thanks,everyone.

Yeah, I was already definately thinking of going for the Jacknife, Parafuso, and 360 Gyro.

The reason I didn;t add some of those things was because I lost all my tricks. Lost my btwist, c9, aerial, etc. And I'm gonna spend a lot of time getting them back to how I had them. If I do that considerably fast, I'll definately give those a shot. =]

But y'all wanna hear something really pathetic? Haha.

Back before I lost my tricks, I could do things like illtwist2splits, Cheat900, Cartwheel Frontflip, etc. But I never correctly learned a 540. It's pretty ghey. I just recently had my friend teach me from scratch, and I'm still getting used to it. It's awkward, because I used to do them with a bent leg and I would land all bent over and what not, so kicking with a straight leg and landing upright is taking some work. I'll get it though. Practice practice practice.

Thanks again for the support, people. =]
