So, being the n00b i am, i tried to learn a frontflip this afternoon... and by afternoon i mean after 6 oclock.

So, talking to anyone in the house who could possibly spot me, (i'm on vacation in WV, so my uncle was the best bet) he and everyone else in listening distance said that they shouldn't spot me because they have no training (they're too lazy, in other words, jk), and that i sould do it into the pool first.

Hesitant that Juji himself would come down from the heavens and smite me, i decided to put a shirt on (for the failure) and practice for about an hour into the pool. Better and better i became, tucking harder, jumping higher.

At about 7:15, I said to my uncle, "get your cell and have 911 already dialed. I'm gonna try it off of that terraced part there."
"Don't run as fast..." he says.
kinda stupid of me to listen, cuz i needed the momentum.
Pretty much, i got close, but took a nasty crack on the butt.
Probably gonna lay off for a day. I feel fine, but i didn't want to risk actually doing somethin'.
"Dangitbrain! listen to the fweakin' tutorialz!"

Ouch, I'm still afraid to try frontflips with full commitment... I still chicken out midair and end up landing on my ass/back. Felt my spine and neck crack in a few places once too. This was on wet sand (right by ocean water).

And yesterday... I tried a scoot-gainer but forgot to jump. Let's just say that I now look like I got into a bar fight. Landed straight on my face, cheekbone made first contact to be exact. This was on grass.

momentum is a must for front tucks w/o a spring floor. and ya know, commitment is good too.

you dont need to practise frontflips into pools and off terraces, just do it on grass of fint a mattress of sumin to practise on

Yeah, I didn't really want to start out ANY trick into a pool or off a terrace, but without a matress/pad/spotters, i'm kinda out of options.

P.s. On the face?!

There is no risk or fear in doing front flips on grass since there's no possibility of injury.. Look here.. With zero height and zero technique, this is the worst that could happen if you do it on grass;

Indeed, there's no need for spotting in frontflip, they aren't that hard once you get the whole blocking idea.

frontflip was the first trick i ever did, even before a backflip. I knew how to do it even on hard ground, then one early in the morning i tried to do it on the beach right next to the water, forgot to jump high and landed on my ass and my tailbone seriously hurt. Since then, im afraid of doing frontflips on hard ground i can only do them on matresses/thick mats.
