Be positive people.

I used to be sorta into it in mind back when I was in my very first generation of tricks. I mean if you could back flip and flip off walls, why not run around on walls and jump off stuff and climb stuff, right? However I never really expended the energy to go try all kinds of crazy jumps and stuff, and thus I never got that much into it, especially once I started learning more tricking tricks.

I think freerunning is alot better than tricking. It requires much more muscle. I admit, ticking needs more skill than freerunning/parkour but in tricking you just trick on one place, in freerunning you go around the city, everything can be an obstacle and its really fun.

i was gonna yell at the previous post but... ill refraine. I actually like freerunning because i can run around and do flips. although i dont do it much i like it because i cant do combos and stuff like that.

I started out parkour'ing... only because I couldn't flip or anything...
Once I began training parkour I became in better shape, and soon learned some tricking and flips... now I somewhat ditched parkour for tricking.
But next year I'm going to University of California - Irvine, and I'll be doing some parkour with people there. I'll never let tricking go though, I find both fun. I do little freerunning, most I've done is backflip and aerial off tables. I'd rather stick to strict tricking and strict parkour rather than meld them.

I don't like free running. I got over my flipping off of things stage pretty early. I'd rather trick or tumble in a more controlled environment.
I dont want to get banned by skillzat so i just wont say anything bad but i really dont like free running beacause A) jumping off of stuff messes up your knees way more than they need to be B) i think there is a lot more creativeness in tricking than in freerunning. but that is just my opinion though:wink: and C) You have to run a lot and waste a bunch of energy that you could be using to do awesome tricks!
yay for tricking:tongue:

Don'tttttttttttt make silly comments like that, freerunning the same as tricking relies alot more on technique than muscle.
I'm pretty much a pure traceur, I practice some kicks in tricking though for conditioning purposes to keep dynamic flexibility going =] Although some days I have tricking days when I'm just not in the mood for parkour

Haha, it's ok not like it or anything. I'm just saying we already had some dang "we hate parkourerzzz" threads and we don't need any more purely negative bs.
Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you're being totally negative. Heck, I don't like EGGS but I don't have to be freaking negative about it. :punched:

but i really do hate parkour hahaha
they come to gym sessions and get in the way doing pretty much pointless drills that dont help them at all
there are exceptions obviously. there's this one dude i train with who's passionate about PK but actually trains decent stuff when in the gym.
generally though: PK is worse than the AIDS epidemic in south africa.

Haha, yea one of the coaches at a gym I went to was making fun of parkour drills lol.
I know you hate it lol, I just don't want everybody to be like "PSSH THIS THREAD IS DUMB PARKOUR IS GAY YOU PARKOURERS PLUS COMME FAGYERZ".
You see, their's voicing your opinion but then there's being a fag about it. And everybody knows shengoikee isn't a fag about anything.

extremely talented PKers/freerunners do impress the hell out of me. but that only includes about 10 people hahaha

True. But for me the same goes with tricksters ahhah.
Nah there's much more than 10. But the general concept remains the same, few good most crap, only thing is tricksters usually tend to get better whereas many traceurs (I'm not even gonna try to spell that right haha) just keep jumpin off the same ol' block.

i do parkour, i started it long before tricking, and i do it more often, as tricking is fairly new to me and my skills are limited lol. I prefer parkour as it can be done anywhere and theres more variety in location and such. i dont agree with someone else saying tricking is harder as in parkour you can constantly make things more difficult by increasing height/distance etc.

I started out in parkour that put me in much better shape. Over the past 6 months well since around xmas i have got loads more into tricking and plainly its much more fun so i don't often do that much parkour its more tricking whooooooo.

A true hero must have originally come up with this phrase!
PK is wank. I did it badly when i was 13.
There is nothing cool about "flowing" through your environment.

if it wasn't for flips(which are not parkour blabla) parkour would not be as popular as it is

Yeeeea I've given up on trying to keep the discussion UNBIASED by not letting people bash on parkour haha.
Btw, I don't like parkour. It's an admire skill, but tricking ooowns it very much.

i originally said in response to the PK dude: "tricking can be done anywhere and is about a million times more impressive" haha
pretty much the same as what you said. oh well....

Well it's actually kind of hard to impress someone when you're running away from them...

Haha, what I mean is, if you do a massive cat leap in parkour, not as many people may be impressed as if you just done a backflip.

Parkour is cool but tricks is cooler.
FreeRunning and Parkour are both pretty damn interesting. If I had to choose between one or the other, I'd choose Parkour.

Parkour isn't about looking cool/impressive to others in the slightest, it's not done to impress people so it's pointless comparing it to tricking in that manner.
shengoikee
Jul-12-07, 10:27 PM
from that i guess you could conclude that parkour is not impressive haha
which is kinda silly (it obviously does impress when done well)
Crunch
Jul-12-07, 10:31 PM
Well, yeah some stuff does impress people.. but no traceur would ever bother arguing that it looks impressive or is comparable to tricking in terms of impressive-ness because parkour isn't supposed to impress people.
So people would rather see a completely turd back flip of an 8 foot wall than say a 7ft (distance) Kong which takes far more skill.
Skippy
Jul-12-07, 10:33 PM
Crunch ftw
shengoikee
Jul-12-07, 10:33 PM
mmm i partially see what you're saying but "people would rather see...." meaning they are more impressed by what they see eh.
the impressiveness obviously being covering distance fast.
edit: fantastic contribution, skippy.

I was trying to say that they would rather see the back flip off a wall not the kong vault.

Jul-12-07, 10:38 PM
yeah i know haha
because they are more impressed by that
you cant really say PK defeats tricking outright because PKers are selfless souls who wouldnt dream of ever wanting to impress someone
the whole philosophy doesnt go that deep

Parkour, freerunning would be excellent for the games we played in our childhood like tag or hide and seek.

Ah, nah I agree, I don't think PK defeats tricking but I don't think tricking defeats PK, because the two are too different to compare in that way.
It's like someone saying "I think surfing is far better than boxing".
They both have different reasons for being done and there is no answer to whether one defeats the other or not.

Does climbing up tall trees counts as parkour? Because I love doing that, and then jumping off from a high distance. I've done that way before I knew about tricks, PK, etc

Lol freerunning more like fagrunning
