fuckin a. how come when i work my arse off to get a good b-twist, my 540 kick gets worse. when i drill my 540's like a mofo, my twist get worse. when i gainer a lot, my aerials go downhill. ect. i rep all of the above types but tell me why when one goes up, another goes down and is there a way to make it not so, or is it just htat i'm not repping everything enough and i should stop complaining and just do the damn thing? i also would like to know if anyone else can share this gripe with me so i dont feel like a complete goon

Heres what I can say:

Lets say you session three times a week.

Session one:

- You work all the tricks that are easy peasy beautiful cover girl.

- Drill B-Twists mininum of 5 times.

- Drill 540's A minimum of 5 times.

- Do gainers until you land one.

- Do aerials until you land one.

Session two:

- Warm up with easy for you tricks

- Aerial mininum of 5 times.

- Gainer at least 5 times.

- Land one b-twist

- Land one 540.

Session Three:

- Warm up again.

- Three B-Twists

- Three 540's

- Three Gainers

- Three Aerials.

This way all your tricks get equal attention. PM me the results if this helps at all.

That just the natural order of things.

As you already know, tricking is composed of various "catagories" [MA, ACRO, BBOY] and "sub-catagories" [kick, horizontal-twist, vertical-spin, invert, flip, transition]. You also may know that many of these "sub-catagories" are completely different skills. Just because you can "spin" extremely well doesn't mean that you can "twist" extremely well, and just because you can "flip" pretty good doesn't mean that "inverts" will come easy.

Though you may be aware of this, you might not be aware that practicing one catagory can handicap you in another. Here is a little formula I cooked up a few months back...

Cross-Catagory Effects [all effects work in "vice-versa"]

□ "Kicking" techniques depreciate "Torquing" techniques
□ [the act of kicking once has little effect on spinning/twisting technique. However, when
□ you perform multiple kicks, "torquing" techniques can begin to depreciate due
□ to "over-spotting"]

□ "Flipping" techniques depreciate "Invert" techniques
□ [Gainer vs. Aerial/Webster vs. Raiz ---> In one, you kick your dominant leg upwards.
□ In the other, you kick your dominant leg backwards. In another, you kick your weak
□ leg backwards. All of these things use different muscle groups, and upset muscle
□ memory]

□ "Transitions" have various effects on various techniques
□ ["Scoots" enhance ACRO, swingthrus, "pop tricks", and "cheat tricks"; but make
□ "Inverts" harder ---> "Roll-ins" enhance ACRO; but make "pop tricks" harder --->
□ "Slide-ins" depreciate everything]

So your Btwist [twist] to your 540 [kick], and your Gainer [flip] to your Aerial [invert]...it's just the natural way of things. Just gotta train smarter.

When you train your 540, train it into various "sub catagories" [540 > Aerial, 540 > Btwist, 540 > Raiz, 540 > Sideswipe, 540 > Flash]...and do the same for your other skills. Or train "hybrid" tricks that take up multiple catagories [Sideswipe, Hyperhook, Atwist, etc.].

To be honest I have never ever done the whole "set x rep" thing with tricks haha.

Sessh broke it down pretty clearly for me. And the fact that those tricks you mention are all from different groups. It just makes more sense.

I tend to train whatever I feel like in a session. In a typical session I will aim to drill all of my tricks and possibly work on some new ones/combos (This probably explains why I progress slowly but the tricks I do have are pretty solid).

Only in short/interrupted sessions will I drill some moves and not others. Usually I stay out until I've at least attempted everything I can do.

Yeah, some days tricks just get along harder. They usually work, but it takes time to get them for that session. And there are days when its easy as. I wouldnt worry much :good: .
