View Full Version : Danny Graham & TT...

I'm posting this because Skillzat99X [our "no-bullshit" MOD] had closed the "Ending Peoples Lives" thread in the "Share your vids" section.
Though the thread went on far longer than it should, Aubrey said something that I think is somewhat true. Since the original thread was no longer talking about it's original topic [which is Hurricane-Loopkicks DVD propmotion], I decided to continue the thread here [where it belongs].
.
wooooow people are still hating on this vid, u all need to get a life
The post count is quite impressive though. Few things achieve this much attention...and this is one thread! The "Bruce Lee was gay" thread has been made several times, and it still doesn't surpass this single thread [or at least I think].
Anytime there is a video posted on here that has Daniel in it, there is always something someone says about Daniel. Whether its crticism for his tricks or just plain hate it's always something.
I feel this way also :eh: It seems as if a great amount of the TT'rs have it in for Danny. It might not be consciously done [since a sizable deal of TT consist of mindless subserviants], but it is definately happening.
Topics on Hurricane Tricksterz get alot of views and alot of comments [which for the most part, are positive]...but when it's a topic on Danny, alot of the comments are kinda brash. They're subversive, sounding good at first, but their actually hella negative and disrespectful
i don't hate on danny graham.

Danny Graham is an amazing tricker haha.
GOOD LORD PEOPLE! ONE L! JUST ONE! NOT SKILLZ, SKILZ!

Danny Graham is a good trickster with a stupid girlfriend who feels she needs to defend him on an internet forum, even though he himself has an account, and although seems to have trouble with typing could respond to critques himself.
Skilzat85X
Jul-14-07, 11:22 PM
Agreed. Plus even if he doesn't type with proper English at least he's still nice to people, even online.
Although I might ask what's the real point of this topic. It asks no questions, it gives us nothing to respond to. All it is is "lots of niggas hate danny g", it's not asking for a response.
Anyways if this turns into another big fat bs arguing hateful spiteful thread, well, you know the no-bs policy.
Danny Graham is an amazing tricker haha.
Yes...and I don't think anybody could say otherwise. However, in the first post, I wasn't speaking of Danny as a tricker...I was speaking in the context of Danny as a person.

Sorry about that...made an assumption. I was hoping to address the reason why people seem to not care for Danny Graham. I could think of several "good "reasons but they don't actually affect me; nor involve me, so...

It seems like everyone just looks for minute, unimportant details about Danny and his tricks and blows them out of proportion to no end, such as calling his CA/FL Roll shitty. I've always seen that type of behavior kind of childish and usually out of some degree of jealousy.
That being said, the only thing I'll ever criticize about Danny is his atrocious spelling and grammar online, but that's just a small pet peeve of mine. I don't mind the occasional spelling or grammatical mistake, but when someone's post is littered with harsh abbreviations like "u" and "2" in place of "you" and "to, too, two" I tend to stop reading, close out TT, and cry for a few hours before resuming my interweb session.

Well I don't think anybody in this thread dislikes him as a person, other than the stated grammatical/spelling errors.
While that can get annoying, it's to be expected from someone who doesn't spend as much time online as us.
Anyways Alonzo is getting annoying PRISON time.

Hahaha, I know exactly what you mean  but I can't ignore the fact that he's merely typing exactly how he talks, which is actually pretty clever. When you meet him, his linguistics is easy to understand. Even more so than grammatically correct English...it's weird.

Well yea, but heck, we each keep talking about in every argumentative thread that "people are hecka nice in real life". Well, that doesn't really matter on TT.com because it's a forum and it doesn't matter how nice anybody is in real life here because we're not here in real life we're only here with our online personas haha.
Does that have anything to do with this topic? Not really lol, I'm just bringing out the principle.
I'm sure everybody loves Danny G.
authority rules over all.
id be proud to have a girlfriend who would defend me like that...i dont know any girls willing to do that shit. aubrey is a cool ass chick.

... I don't mind him at all. He's a good trickster. And his style is different too. I've been seeing his stuff since the old XKC with ... jeez, I can't even remember who he battled.
Still, why is it so hard for some people to be told "it was kind of sloppy"? It's honest critisizm. It's there to help. Everyone gets it. And I haven't noticed more critisizm towards Daniel Graham than towards anyone else. Hell, even Manny Brown gets critisized at times (gods know why).
As a sidenote, nobody said his cali roll was shitty, except the people who were defending him (oddly enough). The one person to say his caliroll was slanted (meaning angled) and landed with hands down, said so because that's exactly what it was. It's still a cali roll, which is a huge move. It's awesome that someone landed it. But after 4000 pages of pure praise, how can one tiny little comment like that anger people so much? Other people get comments like that all the time. It's just friggin critisizm.
i would have agreed about his sloppyness when he first got back but not now. Like his c-900 he used to pull from the back...pure muscle...god knows when i tried those i ripped my groin muscle. pure beastly power on his end...but now he does proper technique now. I dunno if people still think he's sloppy but like every trickster should be...hes improving. the only real knock ive seen so far was mattr criticizing his c-720 and people complaining about his double twist.

I don't mind Danny Graham. But I do think he's overrated... sure he's a good tricker, but there's people out there who are much, much better... Anis, for instance, utterly obliterates the guy. Plus he seems to carry an excessive ego, and his grammar is ass.

Who is "good" at what they do?
□ Anis _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _□ Luu _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _□ Logan
□ Stephen Renney_ _ _ _ _□ Haime _ _ _ -- - -_ _ _□ Matt R
□ Kyle McLean _ - _ _ --_ _□ CA _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ -- _□ Morgan
□ Danny Graham --_ _ _ _ □ KJER _ _ _ _ _ _ _ -- _□ Joe Eigo
Everbody has a knack for something, and everybody has they're own interpretation of what is "good" or not [so we cannot effectively judge who is better than who]. However, we can see how much a tricker does in comparison to other trickers [versatility]...and though all these trickers are awesome, some are more versatile than others.
People like KJER, Haime, CA, Logan, and Danny Graham [etc.] aren't overrated. They're highly respected because they do alot [over 70% trick acquisition], and they do them well. Unlike Joe Eigo, who does very little...so it's easy for him to be "good" at what he does, because he only has 8 things to practice [therefore, he gets little to no respect].
Sorry sessh but the second time the Bruce Lee thread came about it was definetly longer than the "ending people's lives" one! Also it was 100 times better.

I love hearing Danny talk, it's seriously easy to understand, chill in voice tone, and just Danny.
As far as overrating people... it happens in everything, and overrating or underrating is all on personal views. It's something that can't really be argued or contested.

there will always be people in anything who deserve respect for their hard work/determination. People will respect them for what they do/did. There will be people who will hate for whatever reason.
That's how the world is unfortionatly:eh: We'll just have to deal with it.
From what I hear Danny is a chill guy, never talked to him personally, and I don't know if I ever will. However, in my personal view of people I will see the positives before the negatives then out-weigh those. Usually I can bypass the negatives and like a person for who they are. I wish more people would be like that.
I know though people will hate for stupid things. People always have and always will.
Either way, there's not much we can do on TT about all the stupid people, except deal with it. Especially in a community of this size, we're bound to have people from all different walks of life.

Why is this even an issue? TT is such a fucking soap opera sometimes...
Danny Graham is cool as shit and an exceptionally good trickster. I got to trick with him at SEGA one time and he was mad chill and extremely helpful. Anyone who hates on him for the way he types is nit picking and simply trying to create internet drama, which is the last thing that we need in this community.
I started on TT so I'm used to how it is here, but I can definitely see why peeps from Bilang and other tricking sites avoid this forum... who wants to get involved in some stupid internet bullshit when we should be focusing on tightening the community and progressing tricks?

I disagree. Lately atleast, there has been an assload more drama on the TT boards then there was on Bilang.
It sucks, because I really love TT. =[

Jul-15-07, 08:50 PM
Bilang forums are crappy simply because the makeshift forum software is crappy haha.
Hurray for vBulletin!
True. I haven't been to bilang for ages. The last time I visited was probably half a year ago, and it was all drama then as well, haha.
Bilang serves a completely different purpose though. TT is a very large, fast moving community. While bilang's message board serves a very small purpose in comparison. Bilang mostly consists of shoutouts, video posts and the occasional drama haha. Usually only averaging a few posts a day.
Now compare that to TT, which is incredibly busy and consists of all the above + discussions that bassically become chatrooms...in which you can find bashing / spamming on a daily basis.
Saying one is better than the other is silly.
Skilzat85X
Jul-15-07, 08:56 PM
How the heck do we even get tricking drama? Hahaha.
It's like, "OH WHAT HECK? You called it a table-topped cork when it was CLEARLY non-table-topped? THEM SOME FIGHTIN WORDS!"
"Dude, why you hatin on my TEAM. We got twists and kicks you don't got my kick 720 triple niggas what u still on 720 double."
"You my niggas I can't believe we can't go to that session yallz is gay we can go trick on our own it's the most important thing in the world trick sessions ye they isssszz"
"this is a dodge"
TT > Bilang haha. Not to say Bilang is crappy or that anything is wrong with them, it's just a simply fact. While they do serve entirely different purposes, obviously one being more enjoyable to come to (even as a website, not just as a forum) makes it better in my arms.
Hahahahahahahaha, this is a dodge. I love that vid:D
BALDUR'S GATE DEUCE!
Thats your opinion though, that doesnt make it fact.
I have been on TT for years and love it very much. Its a great, great community, but the drama has just been getting worse and worse.
It is as if the backyard tricksters are trying to hate / seperate themselves from "pros"...for no reason, we are all doing the same stuff.
I would never compare bilang to TT though. Billy is an awesome guy and has a very strong opinion as to what kind of site he wants his to be (just as Juji does). Billy generally puts of very high quality videos, whether they are submitted or from tricking / martial arts events around the world. Most of the craziest footage we have seen has come from billy. Billy focuses his site around the samplers and not his message board. Where as TT is pretty focused around the community. Nothing wrong with either, so why even make the comparison. Its silly and insulting to both Juji and Billy, or atleast i would think so.
Skilzat85X
Jul-15-07, 09:10 PM
I don't think TT focuses on the community that much.
I dunno about you guys but I've read almost every article on the main TT website and looked over all the tutorials. It's tricksTUTORIALS.com haha. And believe you me, that mess is EXTREMELY beneficial. The site wouldn't even need a forum to be great. And especially after writing my own tutorials and articles I have even more respect for Juji because it's SO MUCH TYPING and SO MUCH ANALYZING and you no matter how much sense everything makes in your head it is very difficult to express it an a reasonable easy to understand way for all.
The only thing is, almost everyone here only goes to the TT forums now once they've looked over the site once. Even I get in that habit, but every now and then I just like to go and read over all the information.
And it is, I must say, extremely helpful information indeed.
That's why I like TT better, more fun, more useful, MUCH more helpful (if Bilang is that helpful at all, which isn't bad really because that's not the intent of the site.)
But that's just how I see it.
And to be honest I'm mostly just posting in this LOCKED just because I can mwahaha!
No yeah I know that. Juji puts out some of the most helpful articles and tutorials.
Still Billy doesnt put up any tutorials or articles. Soooo what are you comparing it too. I think the whole bilang vs TT and the whole backyard vs pro / martial artists thing (especially this one, there is either clean or unclean tricks, the end) is stupid.
Skilzat85X
Jul-15-07, 09:23 PM
Hey I'm straight up "backyard" or whatever yet I clean all my tricks to my highest possible standards, even cleaner than certain "Ma trixorz" (not to say the "pros").
Personally while I don't wanna hate on the "pros" I don't exactly want to be in the popular inner tricking circle deal lol. I mean I love the pros, I mean I reference them when trying to analyze techniques haha. I'd rather just be off doing my own thing, of course helping people and tricking with others and stuff. But I'd dread being one of "them" haha, even if they are da best. That's just me though.
Oh well, the whole Bilang vs TT deal is bs anyways. So what I like TT muccch better. That doesn't mean that it's one or the other.
Anyways I'm going to open this topic again and get input from other people now, since we've totally changed topics.
Pros are simply the people who are the cleanest / best tricksters out there. Why does the term "pro" only have to apply to some sort of inner circle. There are many tricksters on this forum who have a very strong balance of crazy vs clean. People like Jaime, Mogwai, CA, Juji...those are all tricksters who stick to the "backyard" side of tricking yet trick like the pros.
Like I said before there is clean and unclean tricks. There is no such thing as "backyard style" and the "pros/martial artists style"...soo stupid.
Take people like Waterboy and my brother, NateP--both of them drilled their kicks hardcore, even though they have little to no martial arts experience...yet they can do kicks extremely sharp and clean with a martial arts style. It comes down to putting the extra effort into your training, with stretching and core kicking drills.
Its not like the whole NASKA tricking group was born with the ability to execute perfect cheat900s and jackknives...lol. We are all working torwards the same goal of pulling crazy, yet clean / good looking tricks.
Yaay it's re-opened  I honestly enjoy both Bilang & TT. I'm tons more involved here because the majority of the community is here.
The vBulletin® is also an incentive...but Bilang doesn't get nearly as much traffic as TT, so I don't really consider it a "1-up" over Bilang [though it is more convenient].

Ha what the nigg. CA is one heck of a martial artist, and Mogwai is obviously a great one too.
I'm not talking about pros in general, I'm talking about the inner circle of pros, that doesn't mean it collects all of the pros. In fact their proness has little to do with it, other than the fact that it's an inner circle haha.
It's not bad either, it's just yeno, read above post.

aah you guys i was using sarcasm to say how stupid that one fool who said "danny g is overrated cuz anis is better" is...i love all those guys they are outstanding trickers. yes you kyle! you are siiick
was just trying to make a point. look at how good someone is on their own(like, for example, all the tricks they can do, their "signature" moves & combos, which moves they have down beautifully) rather than comparing them to the best out there, when you're judging how "good" they are. and then if the result of your judgement isn't nice, unless they're bragging, shut the fuck up.

After I stopped acknowledging the idea/existence of "pro" tricksters, I became a much more accurate/honest observer of a person's tricking ability. Some people here are better than we think, and many are not as great as they seem to be...but ofcourse, it all comes down to what you value as a trickster.

I've been reading TT since about May and have noticed that it has steadily gone from a positive tricking community to who can bash who more and who can call who out.
Every tricker i've met (in real life) has been nothing but nice, approachable, and helpful. Sessh most of all. He is probably one of the most (if not the most) creative and amazing trickers i've ever seen and who also happens to be the most humble.
Danny Graham is a good trickster with a stupid girlfriend who feels she needs to defend him on an internet forum, even though he himself has an account, and although seems to have trouble with typing could respond to critques himself.
I've read a lot of your posts and I don't really understand why you feel like you have to comment everything with something negative. Just a thought.
I don't mind Danny Graham. But I do think he's overrated... sure he's a good tricker, but there's people out there who are much, much better... Anis, for instance, utterly obliterates the guy. Plus he seems to carry an excessive ego, and his grammar is ass.
I've watched a lot countless samplers and if you compare Danny's old stuff to his battle with Anis in Germany, there's no way you could bash him. He is a fun guy to be around and inspires people to trick to their potential. He walked in at TXT and started throwing double corks for warm ups. Talk about power, inspiration and dedication.
i personally feel that haime, crazyazn, kjer, hans, kyle mclean, stephen renney, tony, etc are all overrated. i mean, anis is "better" than them, too.
why are people so fucking stupid
I saw your "I was being sarcastic" comment and I hope that was true but I hope that some day you meet all those guys and watch them trick and then even try to utter that they are overrated... even sarcastically.
id be proud to have a girlfriend who would defend me like that...i dont know any girls willing to do that shit. aubrey is a cool ass chick.
I really respect this comment. You guys all think that this "community" doesn't affect everyone in it. Do you think it makes Aubrey feel good to have an entire thread of hate for someone she cares about. I guess that doesn't matter to a lot of people on here though.
Thank you Sessh for trying to bring some peace to this place.

Does that mean that his other stuff is better then the battle in Germany ?
Got any vids worth sharing?

No, it means he has improved a tooooooon in the past year and is still doing so.
He was amazing back in the day too, dont get me wrong. Nowadays he is throwing such crazy tricks and combos though. He was telling us at CLN that in the past year or so he stopped focusing so much on kicks and started doing a lot more twists. You can tell, he has gotten so crazy.

And niggas wonder why I lock threads like a mofo.
"oh ho ho ho TT is so going down hill it's no longer a positive community everyone is hating and arguing and bashing let's whine and complain about it.
HEY WAIT SKILZ what the heck are you doing locking our negative threads where everyone is hating and arguing and bashing! STUPID!"

Danny G is cool. As for tricks skill he is good on video and better in person.

ya his progresssion/degression is kinda interesting.
like in that cln..was it 2002...his kicks and flips were ahead of their time...i dont remember seeing gumbi's back then. Then he took that long ass break and game back fucking huge as shit...his flips were really good but his kicks weren't up there...he emphasized power rather than technique in his comeback..his c-900 were pretty sucky...but then he took that time to fix shit...i dunno if loopkicks guys had something to do with it or the just his pure want to be even better but then he fixed it all. His kicks are really good now and his twists..well damn...because he has so much power he uses it really well with twists..which isnt something you see. Generally tricksters arent musclular people..i can only think of a handleful of big musclar guys. But it works to their advantage and shows that as long as you have the determination if doesnt matter how big or small you are, you can be a good trickster.
Skilzat... I'm impressed by your mod stuffing:)

Skilzat is, as far as I can tell, exactly the kinda mod we need around here.
As for Danny Graham, I know literally nothing about his personality. As a trickster, however, he is one of my favourites.

I like how in the past two pages this thread has increased in positiveness. No hating should be done, but it has and will. Thus we have Skilzat, the other mods, and more people that care about the community than the assholes who try to destroy it.

Hey guys thanks for yet ANOTHER reminder about how "great" the tricking community is. All this drama bullshit is just getting worse each year. The "trickster" label is corruption and you guys just LOVE it like idiots. Cut it out and just enjoy the activity. We "trick" because we love it. The problem is right in front of you though. You all forget to love the activity and focus all your love on the LABEL. It brings everyone else down, including yourselves.

Swartz has made quite an excellent post!
And with that, the thread is locked...again. No reason to be open since everyones just going to argue.
Swartz for MOD!
... but I can still post.....
