Naw, I approve of the thread closing. Nice work skilzat. TT has been pretty bad lately with all the pointless joke threads and stupid arguments/flaming. Personally I think TT should adopt a policy of keeping all that stuff to a separate forum. Joke threads belong in publicus, and maybe there should be a new thread for the arguments.

It just makes me sick when people are debating "whether tricking is martial arts or gymnastics" in the Tips for Tricks forum.

Also, a lot of members come down pretty hard on noobs who ask noob questions without posting video or something like that. First off, TT should be more welcoming to new members, and there should be consequences for being a jackass for no reason. Also, I think it would help if there were sticky threads in each forum section that says the rules for that section and advice like, "use the search function," and "don't ask us to improve your technique without a video."

Also I like having a close community, It means you actually get a sort of real knowledge of who is who.

Although it is hostile to outsiders it is possible to join TT forums and get on friendly terms with people, you just have to avoid being a retarded fag and think about what your doing. After that you can post whatever shit you like :wink:

i don't think i've ever seen a single locked thread i thought "yea that should be locked" apart from 1. unless the actual thread is something seriously wrong... then how does it help anything? it doesn't change people, it stops things from being said, but the people who want to post in it would post in it if they could. it's just 1 extra thread on a whole page of threads, how much of a nuisance can it be when the space it takes up is actually 1/40th of the size of a monitor...on a single TT sub-Forum... that you just have have to not click on to avoid?

hmmm. I'm undecided, I see skilzats point about excesive flaming but I think sometimes that's just part of the fun.

Generaly this forum is unique as it is REAL. As in you can post whatever you want; people may get pissed off at you and that's the consequence for flaming without reason. However I think certain people occasionaly do need a good flaming and/or a spontaneous ban to set them straight.

So I think mods should be more vigilant e.g. hand out bans if someone is being a blatant asshole; yet they shouldn't just lock threads and ban users becuase they said something offensive.

I think TT has been split into two seperate factions over this matter some people want to progress; others want to keep the OLD SCHOOL tricks tutorials.

Also in a separate note.

I still think flaming is usefull. Here are two example of times I got flamed and how they helped.

1. Back 2 years ago I referred to an aerial as an arial someone then posted AERIAL in red, font size 50 or so about 60 times on the page. Since then I have never misspelt aerail and have remembered that ever since.

2. About a month back someone mentioned gainers as a prerequisite to a cork.

I acted like a complete penis and started shooting my mouth off at them saying their statement was rediculus. Matt R promplty (I can't remember if he "flamed" me as such) but nontheless proved me wrong and gave me the kick up the arse that was needed to show me that I am not even nearly experienced enough to jump on people like that.

So those people proved me wrong and gave me a valuable lesson to take home, where as a ban would of just warned me that I was being a dick.

Thread closing does seem to be unnecessary most of the time. Like Andy said, it's a rare occassion that you really need to close one. You're trying to stop the drama, bickering etc, Skilzat but you're not winning. Everytime you close a thread in the hope that it stops it just springs up elsewhere, in another thread. Like it's been said: you can't change people. If anything you're encouraging even more stupid threads to pop up by closing all of these.
