There is no answer to your question. Unless of course you could provide us with exact details on speed, distance, wind/water resistance, etc... etc...
Here's a crazy thought. Do both.

Do both.
But if he's in water to swim, he can't run. And if he's on land to run, how is he supposed to swim?

If you weren't rock_ten, I would have almost found that humerus.
ok water is just a normal swimming pool i don't know how much water resistance, running would be on a flat road with a steady 1 mile every 15 mins.
also when you say do both i prefer to swim but i want to do the one that is best for me. I don't want to do both as i don't like endurance a run then a swim would kill me

That's walking, not running.

haha.
Do whatever you enjoy and will continue to do. Neither is better for you. Doing both would be the best. Not on the same day, try alternating days or something.
Just do something.
how many times a week do you think i should do running/swimming?

Depends.
Just start off 2-3 times a week and see how you feel.
ok i will be starting soon, I'm too busy to do it now.

swimming is technically better for you in that you are putting less stress on your joints than with running, and i heard something that like swimming 1 mile is equal to running 4 miles? but you should be swimming at a farely heart raising rate

both is good. I prefer swimming though cause its more fun. Also, with swimming, you don't really put alot of stress onto your muscles when you're swimming around in the water.
Such as when you sprain your ankle or w/e. Instead of jogging, u can always go swimming and it won't hurt as much.
Just don't panic and drown when the pain hits u while ur in the water. lol

The best shape I have ever been in is during water polo season. The harder you swim the better off you'll be.

Run along the bottom of the pool. Or do jump rope. Underwater skipping is the best exercise invented.
