This might sound rather humerous, but i was wondering....
Since most people use Body Fat Calipers to measure their BF%, can people who dont have calipers use something similar?
Get ready for it.....But can we use a...
a....
a......

a monkey wrench?

I really doubt it since its never been mentioned before, but theres no harm in asking.
Especially if a monkey wrench can get us a rough approximate (which is 10 times better than BMI).

you'd have no way to use constant pressue on the skin-fold when taking the reading. Get some crappy calipers - accumeasure is one common brand. Or just settle for measuring your waist.

you have no need to know your motherfucking bodyfat percentage you idiot

WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS COMPLETELY ARBITRARY NUMBER?

what expertise do you have in guessing other people's bodyfat except browsing the bb.com forum?

No dude, he's a professional.

No, it won't work. Calipers themselves can be misleading.

Well...There is three possibilities:
Skinny
Normal (AKA "WHY THE FUCK DO YOU CARE?!")
Lardass (AKA "Go die right now")

Also, I've never visited the bb.com forum.

Haha.

Calipers don't even measure bodyfat percentage. You don't need to know your bodyfat percentage, and you never will know it accurately.

Just use a mirror.

There! He said it. I want to find out BF% to see if progress is being made.
If there is no progress, i'll modify everything until progress is made.
I know what your saying about mirrors but they work in the long run. If i want to see if i'm actually making current progress i need another method.
Besides, its no big. It aint really important to me to measure BF.
I just gtta lose it one way or the other. Aiming for 10% or so, which will take a while.

Yet, the wrench idea was rather crazy.

Use a mirror and some decent scales. Calipers are effected by too many variables to be accurate.

Unless you just take actual skin fold measurements, and compare those figures, rather than a percentage. Even this has it's flaws though.

I've never really understood weight scales that figure out BF%, how the fuck can a scale work out your BF% by you standing on it?

You stand each foot on an electrode and your electrical impedence is measured, which is then bullshitted around to give you a highly-variable bf% number

Yeah, it's either
A) You want to lose some
B) You're content with it
or
C) You want to gain some

The only three options you should have concerning BF.

Its quite reasonable. Most people are interested in knowing things about themselves - height, weight.. etc. BF% is a similarly crude parameter that people tend to want to know. Personally I'm excited to know as much as I can about my own body.

No, they can tell this by using common sense or a mirror.

People want to know their bodyfat percentage so they can tell people on the internet.

A)"I have enough bodyfat I can't see my muscles."

B)"I can kinda see my muscles, but there's a little flab covering them."

C)"I don't work out and I look ripped as hell!"
