View Full Version : Dead quads, any remedies?

So I learned how to backtuck last night and went kind of overboard with it. I was deathly afraid I'd lose it so I drilled it and this morning, my quads are shot. Utterly beaten and raped.

Anything for it? It kind of feels like typical soreness times a million. It's hard to jump, or squat. Potassium? More protein (like you can have too much). Is there anything that'd speed up the .. healing process?

Contrast showers may help - as hot as you can stand, then as cold as it will go, focus on the affected area but cover your whole body too, try different timings. But you're just going to have to wait it out, dude.

Second day of leg soreness is always the worst.

You can overdo your protein intake to a point where it becomes detrimental. Just so you know.

Hmm... the jumping shouldn't be a problem. Since the backtuck involves explosive hipflexion, possibly the rectus femorus (also part of the quads) could be feeling it.

Landing shouldn't be too bad either... although since you're rotating, it's probably different than just landing. Above the knee your body just wants to keep rotating so when you shove the balls of your feet into the ground to stop it, that force is also transferred through the quads.

Also, you usually go all out and try to jump your highest for each back tuck to get more air time so that's probably it too.

No shit, Tyciol. He used his quads alot, and now they're sore.

Thanks for analysing the painfully obvious.

Haha, well I'm a bit of an idiot. Even though my quads were dead, I went to the gym on Saturday, determined to drill some x-outs. Landings were terrible, couldn't jump well, and my legs hurt twice as much today!

WHOO.

The contact showers helped alot though, thanks for that suggestion. And yeah, I could always just get rid of them. who needs quads anyways, right?

Why not just implant some hydralics instead? Lowrider legs.
