One of the biggest things i notice when watching videos of noobs tricking is that when they're attempting a new move, or even a move they can do but just about, they lack alot of confidence in throwing the move.
this is understandable, because they've only just learned the move and can be a bit scared of it, even if its something like a btwist (i nearly snapped my ankle on my first btwist attempt years ago!).
Heres the tip:
VISUALISE WHAT YOU'RE DOING. GOT IT? MAKE IT HAPPEN.
What i mean by this is that if you're learning to 540, dont just kick the kicking leg up, kick it ALL THE WAY THROUGH! Kick it as hard as you can, because you can see yourself doing a nice swiping kick rather than an exaggerated hop onto the other leg.
Same goes for stuff like 540hooks; if you're doing it and cant seem to quite get around for the kick, its becuase you're not spinning enough! Treat the move with confidence because you KNOW you can spin that little bit further, so pull with the hips around, wrap tight, look over your shoulder and TWIST!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
i know this may all sound like you've heard it all before, but theres more.
If you're having trouble with a move, try and break it down ON YOUR OWN as much as you can, as to reasons why you're not landing it. 95% of the time if im not landing something, be it axe2aerials or masterswipe-sidefull i can spot exactly why i'm not landing it, so try it yourself, critique yourself and compare your trick to a pro doing it, and think of these:
- What are they doing that im not?
- If im doing what theyre doing, why isnt it working?
- Am i going to slowly/quickly into it?
- What are my arms doing? Why?
- Where am i looking? Why am i looking there?
- WHY THE FUCK AM I NOT POINTING MY TOES?
and so on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Remember- tricks are fun, so have confidence with them, becuase the more confidence you have that you can perform a trick by doing the move how you visualised it in your head, the better its going to be and feel.
good luck :good:
