dogens tutorials are good. They talk about fundamentals that all people new to tricking should understand. I would be lying if I said that the tutorials haven't helped me trick.
I understand that you thing the videos are lengthy for the point that they are trying to get across however sometimes repetition is the best way to emphasise something.
I do think that the sideflip tutorial is terrible though.

Ahhh, Dogen's tutorials.
Dogen's tutorials are an excellent example of a well-intentioned young man trying to help out the tricking community.
However, an unfortunate result has been the mass brainwashing of newbie trickers who think you can magically land a trick by blocking it and somehow "manipulating your center of gravity." And that think J-step is it's own trick.
"Guys guys, help! I'm trying to do this corkscrew but I keep failing"
"Dude, if you block that crap you will definitely land! Never mind your totally utterly wrong crappy hideous technique, all you have to do is block to go high!"
"What are you talking about? Surely all he needs to do is STALL so his center of gravity is magically elevated! Forget the fact that he's not even looking over his shoulder, wrapping, or swinging his leg up high! All he needs to do is stall, DUH stupids."
"Ok man, you need to stop that corkscrew and use the J-STEP SETUP! If you use the J-step you will automatically land that mess man."
"Don't listen to any of their advice! Just do a side flip!"
Matthew.

Here-in lies one of my pet peeves.
Blocking is a rapid rebounding off of the ground, floor, or a gymnastic's apparatus with the arms. The block comes from the shoulders exploding towards extension.
Setting, on the other hand, is throwing the arms up overhead to direct motion upwards in a back tuck or throwing the arms forward in a front handspring or up during an aerial. It's what you do to initiate a trick. These descriptions should sound familiar if you've seen Dogen's COG tutorial, even if the term unfortuntately does not.
I had never seen anyone use the term "blocking" to describe "setting" on this forum until Dogen showed up, so I blame him for this. If you search Google for the words block/blocking/set/setting and "gymnastics," you only find them used as per the above given definitions and not how Dogen has bastardized them.

i can't say i've noticed that. i spend all my tricking time in a gym, so i'm used to hearing gymnasts talk about tricks, and use terms like that. i forget what my point was. lol

did you pass? Or were you too distracted by trainning your titanium ankles
the funnies thing about that is, right after i read the titanium ankles article i went to see transformers with some of the loopkicks guys. dogen used anis as an example of stong ankles, and anis had a sprained ankle at the time. lol.

lol i never used to know but in high jump, the correct technique to maximise height and make use of momentum was called the j-step haha.... so its exactly the same thing u wanna do basically anyway lol
