I recently got the kick on my c900 much better. It's consistently as high or higher than the one on the example. The problem I have is that I kind of fall over right after landing. Is there anything I'm doing horribly wrong? I've experimented with this trick for a while, but I just can't seem to get it just right.

To me it seems like your non-kicking leg is sorta just falling down circularly instead of being pushed down into a stable position.

My recommendation is try practicing it without the kick, just use like a pump or a chamber, to see if you can land on the non-kicking leg stably, what the nigg the spelling of "stably" is so weird haha.

i trick with pj's!

but um...it looks fine... balance will come with time.

how long and often have you/do you work this move?

Tricking in PJ's is the only way to trick. Shorts just don't cut it sometimes...

I've tried this move on and off for probably a few months. That meaning I would try it once or twice in a session and not do it for a week or two. I finally started to figure out when to do the leg switch and when to kick. The kick started to come out nicely about a week or two ago, but I've been working with them a lot more.

Skilz, I think that might actually help a lot. I don't feel like I'm pushing the leg towards the ground. WillT also pointed that out to me.

So.. especially with this kick it's hard to get the height you're after and keep all that spin, so a lot of times you end up leaning back to get your kick up higher. I think this is what you're doing here, it seems that your weight is behind you as you crash... to fix it:

1. a little more stretching and slow basic (grounded) kicks will make this easier
2. Focus on staying upright as you takeoff and also as you pull into your spin
3. Practice without the kick
4. Practice backside 9 (ALWAYS helps with this move, they are essentially the same thing but 2 foot takeoff is easier for most)
5. Practice getting to the point where you would kick sooner than you are now (this is much easier said than done, and you may fail but the point is that while you are practicing it you become better at the kick itself)
6. Keeping with that idea, practice (on a trampoline if possible) hyper backside & cheat 9, but BE SURE NOT TO TRY TO ACTUALLY LAND ON KICKING LEG OR YOU RISK HURTING YOUR KNEE!! This you will most likely crash at first seeing as how you're still learning the cheat 9, but again if you can get enough power to come anywhere near the hyper version............

good luck!

Here's the golden rule for cheats: if you wouldn't (or even couldn't) tornado from there, don't cheat7, cheat9, or anything else!

edit: although it can be helpful to do that while you're learning the kick
