Hey dudes. When I try to do a cartwheel I always land with my knees bent so I'm crouched down. I don't know when my legs fold up and can't feel it happening. Can anyone offer some advice on overcoming this?

Thanks

maybe try this: when you are gonna do a cartwheel, keep both your thighs straight and lock your knees but keep your landing ankle pointing down, so you can get a good landing, it works well for me.. i guess

tighten your thighs(thighten lol), but not too much till u get a cramp or smth

Thanks dudes - I pwned it today:

shit d00dz, I'm back now, it was a great success. I learnt to cartwheel, wincore!

I was trying to do them, and started doing them with both feet landing together and at the same time, and me ending up with my back facing the direction of travel (both hands leave the ground before my feet land). I don't know what you call this - is it a roundoff? I think it is. People do it before a backflip a lot.

Then I tried turning either my body or just my first-to-land foot so that I'd be facing the way I came, one I landed, and then it just worked. Previously I had been always landing with my legs bent and me crouched and looking forward in the direction of travel.

kthx

man, I don't recognise gay difficulty thresholds after which a "move" becomes a "trick" or whatever.

An au-batido would be cool, I'll try them once my knee is fixed. B-kicks look gay as hell unless they're really high.

c720.. I think I need to get basic jumping and kicking ability by practicing my tornado kick first. My vert is about 12" I think. Either that or 21", I can't remember.

Yeah buddy, bitches who try to make lines between "moves" and "tricks" are gay! Just do your own thing and try to learn as many "moves" as possible!

If your incapable of learning the regular gymnast aerial you could get a b-kick down and keep raising it until its a pseudo-aerial.

Au Batido is a more dynamic flexibility trick so you should learn that pretty easy.

Try getting a basic handstand down too, it'd help your au batido out.

backflip?

:worry:

THE FEAR.

I've actually tried them last summer, I got round and landed on my knees, with a spotter's help.. but never sorted it out and actually got them.

When my knee is alright I'll try one-handed cartwheels, then aim to do aerials some time, maybe.

Handstands have fucked me over for years, I just can't do it. I must be doing something really wrong, but I don't know what. I've chanced upon a hold of 10 seconds once, but 99.9999% of the time I just go straight over maybe after a second or two. Strength might be an issue, I should do more wall-suppored handstands - it interferes with my weightlifting a bit, though.

It doesn't matter. It's a prerequisite to a cool move with many cool variations. Don't be one of those people who doesn't get a good bkick and goes straight to btwist. Get good basics and your later tricks will be better.

meh, tbh I have minimal interest in taking tricking very far. I'm old now and it would take SO much out of me (at any age) - its not really worth it for me. I wouldn't mind some shit like aerials, backflips, roundoff-to-backflip, and a 540. Most tricks look shit to me.

The good thing about a Cartwheel is it gets your body used to how an Aerial feels, well kinda, but as your on your hands you can't land on your head! It's like having a spotter or something. Btw, if you think most tricks look shit why are you even here?
