I try the J step, try to apply the blocking principle, but yet my best jump would allow me to land with my body horizontal to the ground.

I find it hard that my left leg is the only leg punching the ground. any tips?

Get stronger and more powerful, so that you can generate enough instantaneous force from that single leg to launch you higher.

gainers arnt really about punching, the height comes from the 'kicking' leg. Swing that bastard up as hard as you can and simultaneously spring off the other leg

Block. Put that foot really out infront of you then kick high with the other!

keep your body up-right on take off, then lean back [if you are familiar with the fosbury flop for high jump, it is basically the same concept, without the turn]

Make sure you block and use your arms, kick very hard and make sure your arms go up in time with your leg.

I personally think looking at your kicking leg (the toes) in a g-flash helps you to kill the arch, giving you more height. OFC, it will have an impact on aesthetics.

I rarely ever attempt to block for my swingthru moves, partially because I doubt it makes a significant difference in height, and partially because you won't be able to block in most combos.

As previously stated, just swing the kicking leg as hard and as high as you possibly can! That will give you the height you so desire.
