So, my friends and me started tricking on asphalt in the last few weeks and Iīve got a few problems.
When I roundoff in a gym on mats I have no problem with blocking and geting lots of height, but when i try blocking out of a roundoff or anything else on a street, or on gras, I just canīt leave the ground. I just totaly mess it up.
Anybody have the same problem? How did you solve it? Did you?
Another problem of mine is that I canīt do a 360 twist.:dead:
I know itīs pretty imbaresing...:ouch:
Well, i actually can do one, itīs just that i sort of twist a little bit crooked.
So I start like this | and end up like this \ and sort of fall backwards. Iīve only had this problem for like 1,5 months now and itīs really starting to annoy me!! If I could, I would just kick my ass and tell myself to do it right, but itīs not that easy. Did anyone ever expirience a weird phase like this? Or do I just have to start off with my eyes crossed or something like that?
And another problem:
Iīve been doing Air Alert for three weeks now
(I know Iīm gonna get flamed, asskicked, hated, killed, banned and convinced to stop, but the truth is, Iīve gained 8cm/about 3 inches up till now and I think thatīs not bad for three weeks so Iīll continue anyways)
and about in the middle of the second week I started to have pain in my chins
while jumoing. I was told itīs just chinsplints and has to heal with time. Is there anyway to speed up the healing process (Iīve been resting it for three days now, but itīs still not gone completly)? What do you guys do, when you have sore muscles or slightly teared muscels (Iīve tried bengay... didnīt really do anything)?
Well, thanks for readind all of this. Hope you can help. Would be very happy if you could help. Thanks in advance for your help!!

haha, this is soo strange but I accually have had a phase like that! you just gotta wait for a couple of days and then do it relaxed. It's VERY easy if you're calm:wink:

Ok for now I'll just address the last problem.
If Air Alert is working for you good. If Air Alert is giving you Shin splints, that is bad. You will need to make your air alert sessions less intense and less strenuous until your shins can adapt to all of it.
In the mean time, do not continue to do any exercise or anything that puts excessive force on your shins. Eat a lot of essential nutrients to aid in your recovery and make sure you have enough energy to repair your damaged tissue.

The gym floors have springs under them... asphalt and grass do not... lol.
Just screwin with ya... well no I'm not, haha, but yeah. Basically gym floors give you a lot of room for error, just work your technique a lot so that the moves do what they're designed to do (allow you to gain maximum hieght by changing your forward momentum into upward momentum). If you hit the spring floor hard enough even with shit technique, you'll still go up to some degree, if you hit the ground super hard on asphalt with poor technique it's more likely that you'll go to the ER than it is that you'll go up.

Its a different motion entirely when you are on concrete. Spring floor is just like a lesser version of a trampoline, and everyone knows that you jump differently on a trampoline. Just be aware that you are going to have to do different things depending on your surface. If you learned tumbling in a way that you really take advantage of the "springiness," then you are going to have to re-learn the technique a bit. Just keep experimenting with different techniques. Try using some relatively hard grass until you are able to do them there. Then you should be fine on concrete.
P.S. Video?

Rest. Rest more than you actually need to. Seriously, do that. Do not trick for a while now.
As for Air Alert... mh. The versions that I've seen do not include any weight training programs whatsoever, and that is their most fatal flaw, though not the only one. I haven't really looked into them all that much, but as far as I can tell, it's all about plyometric training. EXCESSIVE plyometric training. Very excessive.
Okay, plyometric training in itself works well for unconditioned people without any weight training on the side, but you would do better to just lift heavy stuff (squats, deadlifts, glute ham raises) and trick, as tricking itself constitutes as a plyometric workout. Seriously, that would be THE sane thing to do.
For some REAL info about how to improve your vertical jump, check out www.higher-faster-sports.com , the BEST resource for that. You don't even need to buy the book, just read the articles, they cover pretty much everything there is to know. The book is good, aye, but all the info you need is right there for free, so why bother with it haha?
And hey, chinsplits (http://www.anatomyatlases.org/firstaid/images/jawB.jpg)...?
Oh and don't trick on asphalt. Grass is better!

Wow! Thanks for all the tips! So, I guess I really just have to rest to get rid of my Shinsplints. I hoped there would be something else I could do... Well resting is fine too.
And Iīm glad that the twisting thing was just a phase for you. Hope itīs the same for me or else the hyper 900s could be a problem for me in the futur.
I wanna be able to trick on concrete!!:ouch::juji: Thatīs what gives me the kick! Just being on a party somwhere and pulling of a few sexy tricks!
So I WILL learn and as proof I will post a vid of me tricking on concrete in about six weeks!! :dead: (if Iīm still alive by then)
Iīll just try that thing about starting on soft grass then going to hard grass and then to concrete.
And for the part about our gym having springs... Iīm not really sure if thats true. That gym has been standing there for decades and normaly they only play football and basketball in there. We just get out a pile a mats and lay them down in a row. Well, anyway, does anyone who actually tricks on asphalt have any tips on how to get a good roundoff down?
And thanks for answering so quikly!!

That's why it's called 'learning'. Being patient is not what I am good at, so I'm not going to tell you to be patient, but haha... still, practice smart and be patient! Don't give up!

Yeah uh personality works on girls better than just tricks :good: I understand though  Seriously thou, I hope your priorities change overtime, as that doesn't sound like it'd keep you motivated for too long...

You don't need to prove anything to anyone. Don't hurry it for no good reason and injure yourself while at it. And seriously, tricking on concrete isn't all that cool anyways... Not worth the risks IMO. However, if you do insist, then at least train safely on grass!

Yeah those are not spring-mats :wicked:
All the luck to you :good:

haha shin splints with 3 days rest, make that 10x the amount of rest and maybe it healed up a little bit, that shit takes serious time to heal yo if you dont want it to come back every now and then, i had the same shit goin on in my leg and i couldnt trick properly for half a year (doin one 540 and bamf you got it back)
and yes btw he ain't talkin spring floor, that floor is infact quite pretty hard if you dont put mats on it

Maybe youīre right. 3 friends of mine and me have been tricking with huge passion for the last ten months and actually for me itīs not really worth it risking all that just to trick on concrete. Iīll just go at it slow. Thanks man.

when you've actually gotten good at the tricks then you can still take em to the streets

I'm very glad for you right now :good:
OFC, you can bust a trick or two on concrete every now and then, but make sure you land them with a 99% success rate.
Oh and think about weightlifting for vertical jump improvement. Single leg squats and other similiar stuff should help you get started!

Thanks Aahem!
About the wheightlifting thing. I heard that if you build up muscles with wheights
for a few months and then stop working out with wheights for a few months, that the muscles sort of go back to where they where, because you sort of cheated on you muscles by using the wheights. And if you train without wheights the muscles stay pretty much the same after you stop, because you use them every day with the same wheights again.
Donīt know if this makes any kind of sence, but if anyone knows what I mean, is this true or not?
