So this 540 kick... I've been having trouble with it for some while. I've worked on it possibly the most out of all my other tricks, yet it hasn't really been going anywhere. I've watched dozens of tutorials, and even though I *think* I understand much of what should be happening, it isn't quite transferring to my ability to execute. It's really quite frustrating. Tips please? :ouch:

So... when I consciously try to land on the kicking leg, it looks worse. Also, I don't seem to be able to tuck in the other leg, even with conscious effort, as it throws me off balance and doesn't work.... might it be something else that I'm missing?

Get more power in your tornado kick. Spread your legs a littttle more before you takeoff. Bend onto your kicking leg hard. Then when it comes time to kick, throw everything UP! Very up dude. Swing your arms UP! Push your upper body UP! Pull your non-kicking leg UP. That should help with that.

you look like you are try to throw a mix between a crescent and a round kick.
If you want to throw a round kick, you cant kick up at that angle. Look at your tornado kick for example. You are kicking up at a 45 degree angle. P
Practice kicking straight across your target in tornado kicks, so your foot kicks sideways, not up. It should feel alot easier to make that foot come to the ground. Once you've got nice powerful tornados in which you kick sideways, go for the 540.
If you do this, you should be able to land a 540 in less than 2 weeks, i'd say, because you are close to it even when you are kicking upwards (which makes it alot harder)
you also want to use skilzat's tips to get adequate height to create a nice slicing kick.

u might wanna watch dogens senter of gravity tutorial on youtube first. I just leanred this move recently, and i find out it helps if you concentrate more on the jump in the beginning than the actual kick cuz more heiht makes it considerably easier that is if you can get it.Also, try tricking with some friends if u know any it will help u get pumped for the move.

nice hair man!
hey it's actually not too far off man
first of all try a change of set up. your hop step results in your feet being too close together on take off and this is going to reduce height coz of a lack of blocking and also a lack of power due to the awkward positioning of your feet.
secondly emphasise power and speed when you kick. drill tornado kicks so that they're fast and powerful. I notice you use your arms a lot which is great and generates a lot of upper body torque, but your kicking leg simply cant keep up, so the momentum is lost. drill those tornados =)
