View Full Version : My LEG DIED?!
So I just came back from playing basketball, sat on the comp for a while... and then I stood up and started walking. WTF?! My right leg is... uh... I can't dorsiflex my foot! The muscle feels like it contracts, just not much, and my toes just won't rise up! If I REALLY try to contract it, I feel like it contracts a little bit, but mostly just nothing happens! I can point my foot thou so the calf is working fine.
It's been like this for quite a while as well, GAH! WTF?! When I try to walk my right foot just trails behind, toes scratching the ground. My quads and hams work normally. What the fucking hell?
I can stand on my toes but not on my shins, my toes just don't rise up. WTF?!
It's not a torn muscle. I'm getting scared.

Weak tibialis anterior? Tight calves?

"Weak"? It feels like "tibialis anterior" just doesn't fire up... And no, the calves aren't too tight. This is really strange.

Maybe your tibialis is tight. Try stretching it.
Maybe it's nerve damage.
Maybe an internet forum cannot diagnose and you should actually go see a doctor.

BACK UP! I KNOW CPR!
If it hasn't solved itself by whatever time you get up the next day, doctor.
We are not talking about "hi I want to schedule time for an appointment.." here. This is a "I am having serious trouble with daily activities because of a major problem with my leg/foot".
Make sure you get it checked or you can pay the consequences.
Good luck boyo!

Weird, it suggests a pulling of the calf but since you're obviously not yelping in pain hmm that is just weird. DOCTOR!

Maybe you don't have a tibialis anterior anymore. It probably vaporised, or tore straight off the bone.
Just walk it off.

Ha ha! This happened to me a long time ago. The exact same thing. It felt weird, because nothing hurt and everything felt normal, but like you said, the toes just wouldn't go up. I'm pretty sure there was something wrong with the shin.
I never saw a doctor and it stopped completely after 2 days.
When you go see the doctor I would like to know why this was happening.

Ha! Cool  I would love to figure this out, but I'm not going to a doc unless it's still bothering me by monday; I'm leaving the city today and I really don't have any time for that before sunday when I come back. This... thing... happened last night, so I possibly couldn't have gone to the doc yet anyhows, hu. Which is why I asked you guys :wicked:
Oh and I think it got a little better during the night; it doesn't trail behind anymore and I can slightly contract the muscle. Still can't stand on my shins though.
EDIT: yey 200

Yeah, this seems to be the case (http://orthopedics.about.com/od/overuseinjuries/a/compartment.htm). Thanks a lot dude. How'd you guess, personal experience perhaps?
Damn, I hope it'll go away without surgery. It says it's like I got a heart attack in my leg, now how cool is that! O well, have to see what happens then.
