View Full Version : Help with Standing Full (vid)

So I sorta got my standing fulls around a month ago, but they’re not very consistent. I probably land around 1 in every 4 attempts. And even when I do land, I tend to land low, and I don’t think it’s too great for my ankles.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice or tips to improve it (should I stall the twist more, or twist earlier?), or let me know if there’s anything wrong with what I’m doing. I've tried watching other videos but I'm finding it somewhat difficult to pinpoint exactly what I need to improve on. Maybe I just need to keep drilling the move? And also, is it an acceptable standing full, or does it need to be inverted more?

(I can provide a downloadable link later if needed. Divshare isn't working for me at the moment)
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I'm no expert at flips (at all), but it looks like you need to stall a bit more.. But as I said, I suck bad at flips so I might be horribly wrong.

- Your ripping the twist rip over your shoulder, you need to keep form of a flip first before you twist.
- If you cant half twist learn a halftwist, and then think of a piked backflip or layout if u want a laid out standing full otherwise a standing tuck if you want a tucked one.
- The way i think of it is i imagine that i have to kick something above my head with both feet then twist, so this gives you a better stall and then rip the twist. This move takes alottttttt of practice.
- An example would be some in the youtubelink in my sig.

Alright, thanks :)

Sounds good, man, thank you for the help. I don't have the halftwist down quite yet, but I'll be sure to practice that one more too. The video in your sig is excellent! The hyper cheat 9 (i think?) was incredible. Would it be too much to ask for a downloadable version?

I won't rant on it, but since you are cheating the spin so early you aren't even vertical...]

Fair enough, though I have watched his tutorial before (after I had landed a few of mine that is), and I'm slightly confused by something. He looks like he's initiating the twist earlier than I am, but still manages to get pretty inverted. Is it possible that I'm trying to throw my torso too high that it become difficult to get my lower body to go over?

Sorry if the slides don't match up perfectly. Also seems like I could probably wrap my arms in tighter. Correct me if I am wrong on any of this, I'm no expert

I never really liked Izzi's standing full. He does cheat the spin a lot you're right. Here's what you want to do: Do them exactly the same as a normal backtuck, but at the same moment as you tuck, throw your arms down and to your side. WAIT TO TWIST UNTIL YOU START TUCKING.
P.S. I myself can't do these, but I've seen people do them this way and it works.

does work. it actually is that simple... you just do a regular backflip and at the moment you should tuck = you twist [and bend your legs slightly - if you're scared you wont make it]...
now the tricky part is commitment. if you dont commit = you spin too soon. meaning: low and sideways.

I should try these... I've done them into the foam pit and landed high enough where I at least would have been close on regular ground. Am I going to kill myself if I just try them on grass?

1. if you have a nice/high backtuck
2. if you can full easily [out of a ro or on a trampoline]
3. if you commit.
then - .
if not, then - :dead: .

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely give that method a shot next time I'm at the gym. Hopefully it will go well. Though I'm not completely against Izzo's method either, I think they look quite nice and he does them pretty effortlessly. I'm probably gonna want to eventually learn a variety of ways to do this move, including the stall, and the early twist (which is what he said in his tutorial haha)

Good to know, now I really want to make it a point to try it out this way.

Simple advice is usually good advice
