View Full Version : I'm out for a bit *tear*

Scalco
Aug-25-07, 05:24 PM
Yea, So whoever wasn't at FF gathering wasn't there to see me miserably crash a hypersnapuswipe attempt. It ended in me dislocating my right knee cap. Luckily nothing was torn, everything was just stretched out. My leg is very fragile at the moment and can very easily get pushed out of it's socket. So I'll be out of tricking for maybe 2 or 3 months I think. The doctors didn't say how long it would be so that's just an estimate I made for myself. It was recorded on film so if anyone actually wants to see it I'm sure it will be posted sooner or later.:dead:

EDIT:
Results of my MRI

1. Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.

2. There is also rupture of the posterior cruciate ligament which appears to have also avulsed from the tibia including small fragments of bone.

3.There is grade III sprain with marked distortion of the tibial collateral ligament including its distal tibial attachment with retraction of the torn fibers proximally and distally.

4. There is also grade II-III sprain of the fibular collateral ligament predominantly in its proximal aspect which appears to have striped from the femoral condyle. Distortion of the lateral capsule and posterolateral capsular ligaments is present.

5. There is a tear of the medial retinaculum. The lateral retinaculum, the quadriceps and the patellar tendons are intact.

6. There is an osteochondral fracture, anterolateral femoral condyle in the region of the sulcus. Mild contusions are noted at the posterolateral tibial plateau and extending along the posterior margin of the tibia to the adjacent medial plateau. Small bone contusion is present in the inferior pole of the patella.

7. There is a complex tear of the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus including a widely separated radial component. The posterolateral, body and the anterior horn segments remain intace.

8. The medial meniscus is without a tear. There is a large hemorrhagic joint effusion and marked periarticular and subcutaneous soft tissue swelling.

......The most depressing part of all of this is I don't know how well I will heal. Meaning I don't know if I will ever be able to trick again. Right now I can still bend my knee to about 90 degrees.

I'm sure no one read all of that because I know I wouldn't if I were you lol. Well thanks everyone for the support....and I intend on coming back to trick after I heal. I just won't be throwing as crazy stuff as I used to. But I'm fine with that ^_^

Yeah... I tore my ACL on a 540... you destroyed your knee on something cool. Anyway, have a speedy recovery dude, do the physical therapy if they prescribe it (if they dont, look some up). Also, if they didn't actually give you an MRI, insist on one, I had a "dislocated patella" too... just sayin... haha

Peace and much love

Ok well I got my MRI and it turns out we were completely wrong. It turns out I've torn almost every ligament in my knee. ACL, meniscus (sp) and something else. So yea, I really am out for a bit. Most likely I will need surgery. And possibly........won't be able to go back to tricking for a waaaaayyy long time.

.....wtf do you think?

Oh and now I have the exact details on what really happened to my knee. I'll just warn you all right now, my knee is pretty much destroyed at the moment. Surgery is a definite and honestly if I wasn't in shape this would have been a lot worse. OK here are the details.

I think it's fair to say that you pushed the limits like nobody else, crossing a line that few would even contemplate, let alone jump across. Few people in life are willing to put it all on the line for something they want, knowing the potential sacrifices and consquences-both good and bad. But you went on anyway, and crossed into territory nobody was willing to venture into. You put everything on the line and nailed that hyper snapuswipe; the most destructive and dangerous trick to ever have been landed. It really sucks that your one-off attempt destroyed your knee, and may jeopardize your ability to trick in the future. However, the fact that you were willing to put it all on the line for something that you wanted, earns a lot of respect. In my opinion, that's the most admirable trait a person can ascertain; a trait that commends a lot of respect in itself.

Heal up and take it easy! Hopefully something good will come out of this for you.

Thanks for that man it means a lot. And I mean when I get back sure I won't be able to do really advanced and crazy tricks for the most part, but I'll still be able to trick. And there are plenty of great tricksters out there that don't even do really advanced tricks. I'm gonna be one of those tricksters that does bitchin combos and really unique stuff. I can see it now. haha
