This is from where the loopkicks visited us in Slagelse, Denmark!

We were on a small trip to Copenhagen where we met some breakers, dancing for money, Ott did a corkscrew and therefore they challenged them to a battle!
Also watch how pissed the breakers are in the end! Priceless!

its 165 MB, but really worth the download!
And do me a favor not to upload it on youtube, before the actual sampler gets out!

That was cool! I liked the creativity from the breaker's side, but didn't like the negativity. And what the eff, that guy really didn't know who the hell who he dealt with. I'd never dare get in the way of Luu's kicks! And look at the trickers! All for the fun. I mean, none excel in breaking, but you can tell they got the idea. I think, it shows a broader perspective! haha, Dee showed them where it's at!

That was dope! Tricksters definitely hyped up the crowd more, and Anis' entrance was epic!
Didn't like the breakers though, pretty unfair how one dickhead got in the way of Luu's combo on purpose. That's not the way to battle man, no respect there. However I must admit those breakers weren't too bad, even though most were powerheads. Actually come to think about it, they were pretty boring haha.

Either way tricksters dominated!

I just watched it twice, and i think the breakdancers were really good, obviously better than Loopkicks at breakdancing, but of course that isn't what it should be all about. Their attitude was pretty annoying, Anis obviously got provoked, and i don't think that landing on his butt while trying a webster while destroying a camera got him in a better mood.

Luu looked so chill in the beginning, but i don't blame him for pushing that guy's legs. Getting in the way for a combo so deliberately is just bad sportsmanship.

I thought the little gestures and the atmosphere was more interesting to watch than the tricks (cus we all know they can do better), and it was fun to see how the audience preferred the flashy, exciting tricking moves over the breakdancing, and that they eventually seemed to cheer more at Loopkicks regardless of the performance because everyone could see that the breakdancers were jerks who couldn't do a fair battle. Nice tricking, anyway :)

Also, it's fun to see something so intense occur at a place that i've been fairly often, on that which must have been just a normal day to all the people watchting.. i'm so sad i wasn't there.

Sep-10-07, 01:15 PM
haha awesome battle mann! yeah too bad everybody was so sore from the training.. but it was amazing what u guys did in the battle.. would have been nice if that fucker didn't jump infront of luu while he was doing the combo.. he would have btwist s/w cork or gainer in that combo im pretty sure..

ah btw does breakers are not from Denmark.. dunno where they are from, but all they do is breakdancing to get money lol.. i've seen them like every time to go to copenhagen :S

I TOTALLY expected a nother baby to get kicked after seeing the toddler in the beginning. I was really hoping... o well at least a camera died.

this is exactly how every bboy battle goes down. loopkicks and the rest held themselves really well against the aggression, they seemed to get that its all for play. the disses get lame after a while and are sometimes are just substitutes for skill, but the most of the bboys were decent.

i liked the powerhead and Luu totally trashing on him while rockin his hardcore scarf. Anis and Ott impressed me as usual. Chris D combo was like daaaamn, crazy on concrete.

cant wait to see more footage from this trip!

billy
Sep-11-07, 02:39 AM
synd7, I fail to see relevance :P..

man, those bboys were Dogs..hahah It's funny. Because loop kicks held themselves pretty well I thought. although they couldn't do much ground work.

But if that was a tricks battle, The breakers wouldn't of stood a chance as soon as the tricks went above a backtuck.

I really didn't enjoy that, because to me it seemed like the Bboys were trying to use tricks against the tricksters (and failing), and the tricksters were trying to use bboying against the bboys (and failing). Random bboy crashes a front flip, Anis does a sloppy flare.
The tricking and the bboying were impressive, but it seemed foolish for each group to try to beat the other at its own game.

Well it's just that it is easier for a creative tricker to cross-over into bboying than it is for a creative bboy to cross-over into tricking.

As trickers, we have a grasp of style and rhythm...but very few bboys have a grasp of MA techniques [even though some can flip, that's not enough to take on a tricker], AND WE KNOW IT...so it is most likely us that's going to try to play their game [because we know they can't play ours].

Note: The only bboy I've seen that had a large repitoire is Machine.

It's just how it goes :eh:

The thing is that since we have that bboyish style of "flash & flare", our attitudes often relfect that of bboys...and I think that this may be confusing for them. When I look at vids like these, it seems that they get annoyed when we trick/flip during the battle [not knowing that we're trickers], they expect us to use uprock, toprock, footwork, etc. to oust them...and that's just not going to happen.

I wish I was there

i actually dont quite agree on this

im not sure what you mean about tricksters having style and rhythm...quite alot of ppl simply combo by doing trick-hook-trick-hook-etc...
im definitely not going to disagree that bboys cant do MA stuff (unless theyve received training) but doing flips and corks is generally the same as us doing windmills and au-batidos (why are ppl still putting them in samps??)...:eh:

btw this battle was sick! the tricksters actually did really well considering it was pretty much a straight up bboy battle. shit was wack tho wen that bboy started blocking the circle... that was just disrespectful... lol...and why did anis keep doing windmill kipups?

if you talk to a real parkour person tho... you'd find out that they're not escape artists (im not saying you said that lol). in fact, much of what they do is attacking obstacles head-on and overcoming them. learned that in Denmark at their gathering (= didnt know it was that deep

I really didn't enjoy that, because to me it seemed like the Bboys were trying to use tricks against the tricksters (and failing), and the tricksters were trying to use bboying against the bboys (and failing). Random bboy crashes a front flip, Anis does a sloppy flare.
The tricking and the bboying were impressive, but it seemed foolish for each group to try to beat the other at its own game.

you make it sound like we were trying to beat them at their own game (well you said that word for word) not everything is a battle for us. the guys just wanted join in on the fun. plain n simply put. no aggression intended.

see what you need to understand is that we didnt come in there with any disrespect. in fact... 300, anis n ott entered the bboy circle and bboy'd. you can tell they have experience in it. course they laced it with some tricking.

in return the bboys hella just disrespected n mocked the guys for jumping. id say the only thing we did 'in the wrong' was return the disrespect... stoop-to-their-level kinda thing. but i said it before.. they started it lol n we werent gonna back down like a buncha bitches.

they shoulda been grateful we upped their crowd count 10 fold n gottem more money than they've ever earned in 10 minutes. we walked off with nothing but our heads high n the crowd's love

n shit.. if they tried to trick, we woulda helped them out

OK I saw all of it, very entertaining. I liked how Ott was making fun of the bboys near the end, and Anis' total domination with the back pike thingy at the beginning[anyone know what that move is called?]

lol pardonayy muah.. i picked up on that wrong:dead:

if you talk to a real parkour person tho... you'd find out that they're not escape artists (im not saying you said that lol). in fact, much of what they do is attacking obstacles head-on and overcoming them. learned that in Denmark at their gathering (= didnt know it was that deep

Yeah I know.

The group of friends I train with from brisbane consist of trickers and freerunners and hardcore tracuers.

I've got nothing against them. Just we look way cooler :P

i actually dont quite agree on this

im not sure what you mean about tricksters having style and rhythm...

That's not exactly what I said, or meant...

Well it's just that it is easier for a creative tricker to cross-over into bboying than it is for a creative bboy to cross-over into tricking...

You missed the notion that I was talking about the "creative" trickers [who don't just do: trick, hook, trick, hook...].

body control is body control. talent translates in many ways. saying "bboys can do this and suck at this while trickers can do this and suck at this" furthers ignorance.

i think we can learn from the "cultures" of other disciplines, but that doesnt mean anyone is "member" of a culture, only students.

i believe what sessh is trying to say is that some crafts translate well into others, but NOT vice-versa. take a dancer trying to learn wushu for instance... i think it would be easy. look at the chinese chick from that hidden dragon w/e movie. if i heard right, she had no martial arts background but was/is a well renown dancer. you couldnt tell that from the movie tho.

a wushu person could pick up on karate or tkd easily i bet. but try to get a karate or tkd stylist to do wushu.. damn near impossible

yep, thats pretty much how i interpreted it. and i still think it's absolutely wrong.

white people can't dance, girls can't drive, and my mom gives a hand jobs at gas stations, we all know the drill.

i think dee's right. if u spend years training karate, u wont have the fluid reflexes or muscle memory or flexibility that wushu requires. it would take a while to try not to apply the hardstyle to the fluid movements. it just doen'st fall into the trianing. same with b-boys and tricking. if u spend all ur time dancing its hard to think about doing powerful martial arts kicks a tricker would have. its def not a "white ppl cant dance" kinda thing

lol no ones saying you CANT try. yer just gonna have a hard time. cuz one discipline's habits dont compliment another's. some flat out work against each other.

we can all agree that in theory, a gymnast can learn tricking wayyyy faster than a bboy can.

and a bboy can learn how to like... crump better faster than a tricker can lol for lack of a better example

generalizations are theories based in truth but not true for 100% of the population.

-Generalization...gymnastic can learn tricking faster than a bboy

y: because tricking involves full control of your body movements in the air and on the ground. bboying most stick to the traditional ny style which has heavy emphasis on foundation and ground work. not to say their isnt acrobatics but not to the extent of gymnastics.

now is this theory 100% true..fuck no. but its a good generalization.

K heres the breakdown of the vid.

Both sides sucked at toprock/footwork, but the bboy side was still better at it.
I didnt see any freezes or they just werent good enough for me to remember them.
Bboys power moves were much cleaner while tricksters could do nasty flips.

also the bboys attitudes werent as bad as a lot of people made it seem. in a battle you always gotta get in your opponents face, though they still werent as nice as desired. I know this is a trickster forum so you guys want to support your fellow tricksters, but if you look at it just from a bboying point of view, bboys won. footwork wasnt as bad and powers were cleaner. the tricksters tricking was still awesome though

Yea, it means people can all voice their useless opinions, most of which are probably wrong and completely ignorant to everything but their opinion, and only a few of which are even valid to any extent. Like the one I said was. :ogre:
