My first time with a RTD Protein shake was quite a memorable experience.
It was during the summer of '05, and I was working long hours at the gym. At this stage of my life I had been following a fairly strict and health conscious diet for a little over a year.
My day started off like any other, I arrived at the gym just past 10am to get in some light training before our class was scheduled to start. After a bit of a warm up, and a light grapple with a training partner the class began. It was quite an intense session, and we spent alot of time 'free-rolling'. This always left me quite exhausted, as I was fairly new to the BJJ scene and still relied heavily on my strength, as opposed to technique.
After the class I had gotten into the habit of hanging around at the gym for the afternoon before I had to teach the kids after school classes.
I had walked past the gyms fridge a thousand times, and never had it crossed my mind to buy any of it's contents.
But something was different that day, something caught my eye as I passed. It was a chocolate protein shake, made by 'Protein Revival'. I tried to ignore it, and went back to my duties behind the desk, but my mind kept returning to the fridge.
Eventually I convinced myself to have a look at the ingredients, and nutritional information panel. For educational reasons, of course. For the first time in years my will power was struggling against this insuppressible urge to cheat.
To make a long story not quite as long, I eventually gave in to the chocolaty goodness that was a "Protein Revival, ready to drink protein shake'. It was the first time in two years that even the flavour of chocolate had past my lips, and it was fantastic.
I remember likening the sensation to being somewhat of an orgasm for my taste buds.
It was as though I had died, and gone to chocolate heaven.
Well, that was my first ever experience with a commercial brand protein drink.

Yeah, the ingredient lists of these things are always horrible.
Damn, I tasted the best chocolate protein shakes in Gran Canaria. Glass bottled chocolate greatness.
God damn, I want one now. I remember they tasted like chocolate milk, only ten times better. And I haven't eaten yet, because I have no food here. Ahhhh!
