Okay I just got my moonkick down nice and smooth and I wanna start learning corks. I tried corks before, I managed to twist but it was a rather scary experience and I landed on my chest all the time.

I just wanna know the basics to cork? So I just jump up and twist?

Also, I am wondering about the rotating axis in corks. I mean in moonkicks, you do sort of twist a little already right? is the twist along a horizontal plane or vertical plane(ie your place rotates to face the ground, then to the side then to the top). Sorry if I sound totally vague.

If you can moonkick well then just try throwing the twist, it shouldn't turn out too badly.

I tried to learn cork this summer by trying to do corks no matter how much the crashing hurt, ended up with a wrecked knee, a shoulder that felt like its going to fall off and my left ribs in a lunchbox. I hate to crash that trick and thus I'm kinda scared trying it again.

Throw it once maybe, if it doesn't feel natural and the bail hurts then go back to btwists to get used to spinning. Try to delay your btwists a bit to feel the difference between taking off then spinning as separate actions.

ALso keep drilling moonkicks til you are keeping momentum but landing softly, I figured recently that big hefty gainers where you slam into the floor don't help corks one bit =P

I don't have a good, gainer-flash or moonkick, but I can still cork. Just keep your legs together, and stay wraped.

like mike said you need a slant gainer, but not a shit one. Make sure you have a high moonkick that flows. Your leg and hips should lead the slant gainer all the way round and you should feel like the point of rotation is around your shoulders.

There is a point in a slant gainer where you arch over one shoulder. With a cork instead of arching you should wrap in order to spin. Make sure that your chin is on your chest towards the leading shoulder in the spin (this will help you to spin faster), also don't forget about your legs when spinning. The upwards power from the kick of the gainer shouldbe used to generate torque from the spin, your legs should feel as if they are wrapping towards the direction of rotation as much as your arms will.

I hope that helps
